Freeze Company (2005)

Recorded July 2004. I'd just bought a new Vestax PMC-37 Pro mixer, which had quite unusual short fader EQs, and you can definitely hear them being worked pretty hard in this mix. Some interesting tracks on this one - some of them definitely 'mid 2000s' but a few timeless ones also.

In this week's installment of the "Delayed with..." series, we're excited to present you with the creative world of a familiar luminary. Moy Santana, one of the masterminds of Sungate record label and one-half of the dynamic Fase Bipolar duo, emerges not only as a talented producer and exceptional DJ but also as a curator shaping the vibrant Spanish underground techno scene. Moy's impact over recent years, whether through his collaborative efforts with Fran at Sungate, the evocative Observatory podcast series, his original productions, or his mind-altering DJ sets, has been extraordinary.

Today, we're thrilled to unveil one of Moy's "mind-benders," meticulously crafted for our series. While the term "journey" often feels clichéd when describing DJ mixes, Moy's mix effortlessly transcends this label. At its core, this mix embodies the essence of techno. Yet, Moy seamlessly introduces unexpected sonic elements, traversing through dub house, electro, tribal, acid, and back to the depths of techno. The sheer agility with which Moy manipulates these nuances is breathtaking, demonstrating how subtle shifts can redefine genre boundaries while remaining steadfast to the mix's overarching narrative.
