At the root of Nick Lapien and Robin Koek’s Artefakt project is a shared love for melancholic, hypnotic voodoo music. Their sound is pensive with deep, rich textures; long track lengths—often six-minutes-plus—give the duo an expansive framework in which to make small changes of texture and tone, creating cerebral, balanced atmospheres that absorb and engage. 

“Sometimes we just take a short element, like the sound of a falling drop of water, and from this recording we extract the rhythm and use it as a starting point,” they say. “It’s a very organic way of creating new material.”

"This mix contains several of my current favorite minimal and techno records and also several classic gems of the genre.

For personal reasons, it was recorded at night, with the volume low on the speakers, which complicated the process a bit. It's not my most technically perfect session, but, on the other hand, the situation forced me to make a kind of blend and speech without stridency and this has built a very interesting sleepy atmosphere.

It's the music I could play nowadays at an after hour club and the way I would play it."

Moy Santana, one of the masterminds of Sungate record label and one-half of the dynamic Fase Bipolar duo, emerges not only as a talented producer and exceptional DJ but also as a curator shaping the vibrant Spanish underground techno scene. Moy's impact over recent years, whether through his collaborative efforts with Fran at Sungate, the evocative Observatory podcast series, his original productions, or his mind-altering DJ sets, has been extraordinary.

Today, we're thrilled to unveil one of Moy's "mind-benders," meticulously crafted for our series. While the term "journey" often feels clichéd when describing DJ mixes, Moy's mix effortlessly transcends this label. At its core, this mix embodies the essence of techno. Yet, Moy seamlessly introduces unexpected sonic elements, traversing through dub house, electro, tribal, acid, and back to the depths of techno.
