Joined for my next instalment on SWU with the founders of rdg tribe, who have curated a sublime mix, seaming together abstract, minimal and dub like textures. 

Javier Salazar are the founders to 'rdg tribe'. Their label focuses on and hosts an array of sounds from the realm of psychedelic underground EDM, spanning from ambient, half time to deep techno and breaks. The duo's own track curations are the pinnacle to deep and hypnotic production and demonstrates how these sounds can undeniably entice listeners into the vortex that this music can take you through.

Step into the enchanting garden of Backsteinboot on Eiswerder Island in Berlin, where Francesco Devincenti crafted a mesmerising live set for our event Sonic Botany in collaboration with Popkultur Festival in May 2023.

While the term "journey" often feels clichéd when describing DJ mixes, Moy's mix effortlessly transcends this label. At its core, this mix embodies the essence of techno. Yet, Moy seamlessly introduces unexpected sonic elements, traversing through dub house, electro, tribal, acid, and back to the depths of techno. The sheer agility with which Moy manipulates these nuances is breathtaking, demonstrating how subtle shifts can redefine genre boundaries while remaining steadfast to the mix's overarching narrative.

I thought I'd set a challenge for myself while learning the Intellijel Atlantix by making a track with 100% sounds created with the module. From percussion, bass, pads, and chords, to textural effects, everything was created with the Atlantix and recorded into Ableton where I layered sounds and built out an arrangement. 

Added some slight compression and reverb/delay to certain tracks using Valhalla Delay, VintageVerb, and FutureVerb.

I'll take another pass at this track to sub out some sounds — particularly the chords, as I don't like how they sit in the mix, and sequencing and recording each note of the chord individually and layering in Ableton was a faff.

Overall, enjoyed the experiment and learnt a lot about what the Atlantix is capable of! Constraints breed creativity.
