Disillusionment with the systems of power and the current state of the world has led to a rich breeding ground for new ideas, new pathways, and new ways of being. In this spirit, Unrush presents their next compilation, Rush of Communion Vol. 2. A collection of tracks from friends and collaborators, it embodies the musical path forward, clarity of mind, strength of heart, and visions for a better world. 

As with the last compilation, all proceeds will once again go to the Detroit Justice Center, which is a national nonprofit organization that pays bail for people in need, reuniting families and restoring the presumption of innocence. In a time when police violence and racism are as rampant as ever, it is crucial to do what is possible to help those in need. To achieve this peaceful vision of the future, internal syncopation and harmony are essential. This serene and playful collection of tracks enables just that, bringing solace to the collectively troubled mind.

The initial spark of creativity resides deep within us like a seed, waiting for water and warmth before germinating into a floral wonder. Our next guest is a rather fine gardener in this sense, having cut his teeth for 10 years in the Berlin underground before flourishing into the internationally renowned artist he is today. At this point, Rødhåd is an artist who hardly needs an introduction. Launching his party series-turned-label Dystopian in 2009, he undoubtedly helped facilitate the musical landscape of modern-day Berlin with his uncompromising vision of techno. Known for his infectious smile and ginger personality, he has won many hearts and minds with his selections and productions ever since his humble beginnings. 

With his new label, WSNWG, he has entered a new chapter of collaborative synergy and fluid audio-visual exploration, releasing his first full-length ambient album MOOD as well as tracks with Ø [PHASE], Lady Starlight, and Antigone among others. It is in this spirit that we have asked him for a contribution to Unrush, and his mix does not disappoint. Clocking in at just over an hour, it takes us through sweeping valleys of sound, whispers of content, and everything in between. Rumination, reflection, return. Such is the vernacular of winter, a moment to exhale, to glance behind as well as ahead. To commemorate this precious time we have a very special guest this month. Slam are so integral to electronic music culture that they hardly need an introduction. With over 100 releases under their belt, they have enthused the eager ears of their audience for over three decades and are still going strong today. Their label, Soma Records, has established itself as a consistent output of world-class music, while their weekly podcast series, Slam Radio, is arguably one of the most respected around. 

Normally found roaming the rougher-tinged arenas of music with harsh, jacking rhythms, here they have smoothed out their sound and gone down an alternative path. Serving as the first half of a two-part mix, Slam have once again showcased the breadth of their musical knowledge. Soaring through valleys of angelic synths and sighing strings, they arrive at a place at once familiar and yet completely foreign, concealed through passages of morphing, static noise. A truly engaging listen, and one perfectly fitting for this current moment of restless tranquility.

061 - Unrushed by Slam (Part 1)

Unrush founder Mareena has been very busy since her last in-house contribution to the series. Her collaboration with JakoJako on Muzan Editions stunned listeners with its bright palette and nocturnal nuance, while their contribution to the Tresor Records 30 Years Compilation solidified this collaboration as a project to watch. Both of these releases displayed the refinement of her production skills, where her dedication to modular synthesis has transpired into a palpable passion for discovering new sonic pathways. It's safe to say Mareena is no longer just an adept DJ, but also a versatile producer as well. 

Unrush itself has grown too. With over 60 mixes and 4 compilations released to date, the series has expanded to include a broad family of artists and shows no signs of slowing down. To celebrate these achievements, we are pleased to present Mareena's fourth mix for the series, where she gracefully weaves the past into the future, giving us a glimpse of what is to come.

Rising from our collective slumber we embrace the new year refreshed and ready for new sonic territory. Our first guest of the year, Occa, hails all the way from Japan where he has made a name for himself throwing parties in Sapporo and DJiing at established events such as Labyrinth Festival and Future Terror. After meeting him and seeing what we deemed one of our favorite sets of 2022, it was only natural to invite him to contribute to UNRUSH. His style is expansive and possesses an air of experimental elegance, combining sonorous harmonies with washes of nocturnal noise and faint, mesmerizing melodies. Gin & Tonic is an improvised electronic music duo, comprised of Eli Verveine and Gwenan, renowned for their captivating DJ sets that ignite dancefloors across the globe. Their journey began with a spontaneous decision to intertwine their musical machines for a hybrid live/DJ set at an anti-war gathering in MaHalla, Berlin, during the spring of 2022. What started as a fleeting moment soon blossomed into an impassioned collaboration, where the rhythmic pulse of their creations took precedence over conventional DJ equipment.

This recording encapsulates the essence of their synergy, featuring a compilation of six studio and live improvisations. Some tracks are freshly minted, while others were crafted during the waning moments of the previous year. The collection culminates with a tantalizing excerpt from their mesmerizing performance at the Waking Life Festival in June 2023, a testament to their evolution as artists and the boundless energy they bring to every stage they grace.

We are delighted to present the second episode of our Live Recording series. This time, we team up with Barcelona's Mostra Festival to share the beautiful DJ set of Lou Drago, who played their irresistible scapes during a Thursday afternoon at Hangar.

Lou Drago is the host of t r a n s i e n c e, a monthly show on Cashmere Radio in Berlin, which aims to offer anxiety relief to its listeners. Together with marum, they host sonic seances under the name infinity rug.

They believe in the transformative potential of sound and the importance of deep listening, whether that means listening to each other, our needs, or the sounds around us. In their sets, they often explore the sonic landscapes of the in-between, where the listener's perspective dictates the experience, yet holds them in a warm embrace to invite a deep dialogue with the listening body-mind.

We are pleased to have Hypnotic Black Magic join the Unrush podcast series. Based between Berlin and Lisbon, this visionary techno artist is celebrated for her deep, trippy sets that transport listeners through euphoric, hypnotic soundscapes. As the founder of the influential label, podcast, and event series Art Bei Ton, she masterfully intertwines hypnotic sounds, psychedelic visuals, and a commitment to gender-balanced lineups, shaping the underground scene with her unique artistic vision.

Her musical journey, inspired by both nostalgic and avant-garde electronic sounds since her teenage years, revolves around deep techno, ambient atmospheres, and ritualistic rhythms. As the autumn season gently unfurls, bringing cooler days and longer nights, we often find ourselves drawn indoors, where the world slows down just a bit. This time of year invites moments of introspection and the soothing balm of stress relief, creating the perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in calming and tranquil sounds. 

Unrush is pleased to welcome Low Velocity Soundsystem from Leipzig & Halle to this journey. Since debuting in 2018 as part of the event series “Time To Get Lost” in Halle, LVS has cultivated a space beyond the dance floor, inspired by the legendary 90s chill-out rooms. Gregor and John have created a musical environment where ambient textures converge with trip-hop, drone, techno, and dub, revealing a deep appreciation for atmosphere and mood.

Gregor is part of the team at Connwax, which hosts a long-standing label night at Leipzig’s IfZ, while John hosts the Folding Realities radio show on Callshop Radio, also working as a live-act and producer. Both bring their unique personalities to the track selection, blending their expansive music collections with a genuine and passionate spirit.

This set reflects their vibe—a unique blend of ambient-dub, drawing subtle connections to the club scene, and tinged with a delicate hint of melancholy. Without much discussion beforehand, they found themselves aligned, crafting a curation that speaks to the introspective side of the season. We are delighted to begin the year with a mix from ASIP (Ryan Griffin), the founder of A Strangely Isolated Place - a label and mix series that has become a cornerstone for contemporary ambient music. Inviting him felt long overdue, and we couldn’t be happier to share this contribution from someone whose work continually inspires us. For this mix, Ryan delved into musical memories, crafting a journey filled with nostalgia and influences. As he beautifully puts it:

"Thank you, Mareen, for the invite to your series. This mix is full of nostalgia, some Balearic undertones, and classic approaches to ambient electronic music, without an agenda. It starts to speak to some major influences on me over the years. Growing up on 90's electronic music, influential summers in Europe, and the formative years of early 00's IDM and electronica. For the next edition of Unrush, Berlin-based electronic musician and cellist Chloe Lula presents a mix that brings together her background in classical music and her work in electronic sound. Layering her own cello recordings over a selection of ambient pieces, she explores the tension between structure and spontaneity - between the past and the present.

Chloe studied cello at the San Francisco Conservatory before stepping away from the strict world of classical training. Immersing herself in community radio, experimental music, and techno, she went on to tour internationally as a DJ and producer. Her return to the cello was intuitive. A way to bridge memory and sound, much like her recent LP Oneiris.

As a resident at Tresor, with releases on Tresor Records and a recent EP on Blueprint, Chloe moves fluidly between club-driven intensity and introspective soundscapes. This mix reflects the latter: a space where layers unfold, textures blur, and time slows down…

Avsluta (Lucie Stepankova) moves with quiet precision, tracing the lines between ambient stillness and rhythmic motion. As a London-based sound artist, DJ, live performer, and curator, she explores the spaces where sound lingers and transforms.

Her set at Mostra Festival 2023 left a lasting impression. A seamless journey through moods and tempos, carried with effortless elegance. It felt only right to invite her to Unrush, and now here we are finally.

For this mix, Lucie dives into deeper ambient landscapes, showing the same thoughtful sensitivity that shapes her work. Over the past decade, Lucie has refined her musical voice behind the counter at Phonica Records, guiding London’s ambient and downtempo seekers most Saturdays, building connections, sharing music, and fostering community along the way.

She’s the founder of Introspective Electronics, a platform for radio shows, guest mixes, and listening events. Together with producer and DJ Alicia, she also curates Terra Obscura, an intimate club night series devoted to slower, introspective sounds.

This DJ set holds that same spirit: a quiet invitation to slow down and listen...

It’s a genuine delight to welcome Sarah Wreath to the Unrush mix series. 

Sarah and Mareena first met at SuperBooth in 2018 - a wonderful, annual playground for synth lovers in Berlin. They were both working at the front desk, surrounded by machines, cables, curious conversations, and the kind of people who speak fluent modular. It was one of those encounters that sticks. Since then, their paths kept crossing at different corners of the music world, always briefly, but with a deep mutual respect and warmth.

Sarah’s mix for Unrush feels like slipping into a slow, sonic ritual: deep, patient, and textured with intention. At times, it´s layers reveal a delightful obscurity, inviting you to explore unexpected twists and hidden depths. You can sense her background in sound research and therapeutic practice, as well as her love for psychedelic edges and raw, old-school techno. As a producer, she has released her debut LP on The Bunker New York in 2024 and has recently dropped fresh collaborative tracks with Sandwell District.

Pink Noise emerges from an intimate recording of the artist's vaginal milieu, captured with a self-crafted microphone. The subtle, haunting sounds of her body’s infection with the human papillomavirus. An unseen transformation altering the cellular landscape of her cervix. The visceral tones unveil both the vulnerability and the quiet resilience of a queer, migrant body navigating its existence. 
Banu exposes a deep connection to the rhythms of her body while illuminating the pervasive yet often unspoken truths of one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. It is an act of confronting stigma and raises awareness of systemic inequities within the healthcare system in Germany. 
Pink Noise is the sonic manifestation and interpretation of Banu's sound installation and solo exhibition at Galerie im Turm in Berlin in 2023.

For this month's Unrush mix, we're excited to feature Eric Cloutier - a true digger with a deep history in the scene and an ear for detail. His 90-minute guest mix flows through warm, textured ambient with darker, rhythmic turns: subtle, patient, and always engaging.

Cloutier’s path has taken him from Detroit to New York, where his years as a regular at The Bunker New York helped shape his distinct style: deep, body-oriented music with a strong sense of narrative. Now based in Berlin and a resident at Tresor, he continues to bring that same focus and depth to clubs and listeners around the world.

With a straightforward, no-nonsense approach, he has spent years honing his craft. His label Palinoia - named after the act of repeating something until it’s mastered - reflects that mindset: a home for stripped-back, dubby techno and lesser-known talent that fits seamlessly into his sets.

Known for his collaborations as Glÿph (with Clearlight) and OZOH, Owl has been crafting deep sonic journeys since 2013 - seamlessly blending ambient, autonomic, and deep techno into a sound that’s as introspective as it is expansive.

With releases on some of our favorite labels like Silent Season, re:st, Lowless, and Huinali, Owl is a master of subtle textures and emotions. His mix for Unrush gently guides you through beautiful soundscapes and soothing atmospheres - the perfect companion to unwind, reset, and breathe a little deeper. 099 - Unrushed by OWL

Reaching our 100th edition feels special, and we couldn’t be more honored to celebrate it with Anthony Child. Many know him as Surgeon or as part of the British Murder Boys alongside Regis whose work has left a lasting mark on techno. Yet there’s another side to his work - one that steps away from the club and into more spacious terrain. You can hear it in his electronic recordings from the Maui project in 2015, in his collaborations with Daniel Bean as The Transcendence Orchestra, or through OLD Technology, the label they run together as a playground for questioning reality.

For Unrush, Anthony offers a mix that only he could create. A journey that wanders through krautrock, psychedelic twists, ambient spaces and moments of lighthearted play. It has the same curious energy that makes his monthly Noods mixes so inspiring, and yet it feels made to be taken in slowly, with time and openness.

We’re grateful to share this milestone with someone who has shaped so much of the music we love, and who reminds us that listening can be both grounding and transporting. Press play and enjoy it - on a walk, with friends, or in your own quiet time...

100 - Unrushed by Anthony Child

We are delighted to bring you a gem from this year’s Mostra Festival: a two-hour live recording from Lynne, captured in Barcelona 2025. In this set, she moves with ease through ambient textures, deep basslines, rolling percussion, drones, and surprising rhythms. Her love for drum & bass and dubstep quietly ties it all together.

Lynne’s story began in Tokyo, where a first night raving to drum & bass changed everything. It sparked a move to London, where she soaked in jungle, dubstep, and the UK’s raw underground energy before returning home to shape her own sound within Tokyo’s experimental scene.

Now moving between Tokyo and London, Lynne explores the in-between spaces of techno, experimental, and drum & bass. Her mixes feel like small journeys: thoughtful, a little mischievous, and always true to the rhythms that first lit the spark.

Shinsuke Goto, curator and resident DJ at Tokyo’s Mitsuki, contributes a finely tuned mix for this edition of Unrush. I heard him play in Tokyo in 2024, where his DJ set revealed a deep sensitivity for the trippier side of electronic music - a quality that also flows through this mix.

Here, Shinsuke explores spacious soundscapes and intricate layers of sound design, moving between stillness and subtle motion. Introducing a deeply soothing Unrush mix from DOC - a producer, live act, and founder of Selene Series, whose sound I've been exploring since a friend connected us at this year's Mostra Festival.

For this mix, he delivers something truly special: a warm, comforting sound blanket which spans over almost 3 hours. Moving away from the more experimental edges he often explores, DOC has crafted a mix that feels like a gentle, unhurried stroll.

In his own words:

"Not every mix needs to be ‘a journey’. This mix is a stroll.

A stroll around that feeling of warmth, of tranquility, of comfort. A walk in circles around different iterations of beautiful music to soothe your senses. Because sometimes, the act of walking is the destination in itself. And when we are not going anywhere, just being for the sake of being, there is no rush. We are unrushed."

Our next guest deals in fantastical chimeras, weaving tales around silent winds and languages long forgotten. Wanderwelle are a duo from Amsterdam who have been making waves with exquisitely executed releases on the dub-drenched Silent Season imprint. Their music is imbued with an enchanted sense of narrative, traveling to the farthest outposts imaginable with no intention to return. Through a slew of tastefully selected mixes they have also exhibited a sublime ear for DJing, such that we found it no less than necessary to ask them for a contribution to UNRUSH. About the release:

We live in a complicated age. As the global population rises, the demand for work increases, while the possibilities dwindle. This is further exacerbated when governments turn inwards, destroying their own people. For these reasons among many others, it is now more critical than ever that we approach our fellow human beings with a sense of compassion, understanding, and helpfulness. 

Our mission at Unrush has always been to help unravel the stresses of daily life. Whether it be through our monthly podcasts or our event series in Berlin, we have continually aimed to alleviate the complications inherent in simply existing. With the launch of The Unrush Tapes, we have now decided to do something palpable in order to share the music we love while simultaneously relieving some of the real, serious problems that burden people's lives. Therefore, all profits from this tape will go to help4people in Berlin e.V., a non-profit charity dedicated to seeing the successful integration of the much overlooked African immigrants in Berlin. 

Musically we have turned to many past Unrush contributors for their generous offerings, including Wanderwelle, Shaded Explorer, Katya Yonder, Bleak, Sirko Mueller, 3KZ, John Heckle and many others. With a textural palate to match the diversity of mankind, there is a subtle narrative that forms throughout the compositions. Equipped with unlimited sonic possibilities, they bring us to a place of eternal peace that resides within us all. This is the place that we want to explore. Welcome to the world of Unrush.

If there was ever a timeless form of music, one could argue it is dub techno. From his drifting, weightless chords to the sheets of melancholic atmosphere he crafts, Fingers in the Noise has proven himself to be a true purveyor of this sound. As profound as any basic channel record, his albums create an expansive space within which the listener can truly exist. Since 2009 he has been churning out the highest quality dub techno and ambient music on his own Fitn Personal Records imprint as well as many others, so it was only natural that we ask him to cook up something special for UNRUSH. Listen and let yourself go while enjoying these last few summer days.

033 - Unrushed by Fingers In The Noise

Once again the team at Unrush has gathered their energy and spirits, putting together a dazzling array of ambient excursions from artists otherwise known for their techno, house, and electro cuts. As with the last cassette, the focus here is on showcasing new works and channeling the result into diminishing some of the strains on people's lives, with all proceeds going to help4people in Berlin. 

This cassette sees the debut of Unrush founder Mareena, who has worked in collaboration with JakoJako to make a poignant piece entitled "Füreinander", which translates to "For each other". Indeed this is the spirit of what Unrush does, providing a safe musical space for others to explore. This disposition remains throughout the selections, with appearances from electro giants such as The Exaltics, Plant 43, Dez Williams, and Kuldaboli, all of which provide an exquisitely elaborate palate of tones, moods, and rhythms. Irakli, Artefakt, and Tomi Chair all step away from rhythm entirely and instead traverse a more pastoral plane, both in light and in darkness. Berlin mainstay Stojche brings his unique blend of seasoned downtempo house, while newcomers Carlota and Atariame round out the release with something completely different altogether. 

Taken together, this collection of tracks is an ode to the quiet moments where truth shines in. Where you see between the cracks of your life and gaze upon the interconnectedness of everything around you. Take it in and feel yourself Unrush.

As we collectively take a moment to ruminate and ponder an uncertain future, the music stays with us, guiding us through the sullen seclusion of the moment. Our next guest Andrey PUSHKAREV has a particular way of wrapping the listener in an endless blanket of warm resonant chords, slowly subduing them into a contemplative trance. Hailing from the hardened landscapes of Russia, he has made a name for himself as a top purveyor of deep, dubby grooves that uplift into insight. Using music as a medium, he externalizes the infinite complexities of his reality into a simple yet all-encompassing passage of sound. The result is as captivating as it is comforting, and we are very pleased to present this spring edition of UNRUSH from the maestro himself.

In times such as these, it is imperative that we swiftly come together as a community to stand in solidarity with the oppressed and amplify the voices of the unheard. The time for action is now, and musicians have a responsibility to acknowledge and pay tribute to the rich heritage of the music we hold so dear. Therefore the Unrush team has asked friends and collaborators to contribute some stunning musical works to the first edition of The Unrush Files. Entitled "Rush of Communion", this various artists compilation embodies a collective effort to support those who are fighting at the front lines, risking everything to facilitate lasting and meaningful change in a fundamentally unjust society. 

All proceeds from this compilation will be donated to the Detroit Justice Center, which is a national nonprofit organization that pays bail for people in need, reuniting families and restoring the presumption of innocence. This essential work can not be understated, as police have arrested more than 10,000 peaceful protesters who were speaking out against systemic racism in response to the killing of George Floyd. It is only when we work together, by both looking inwards and lending our efforts outwards, that we can begin to manifest a new world built on the principles of equality and justice.
