The don of Siberian techno Roma Zuckerman made his debut double LP ‘Phenomenon of Provincial Mentality’ on Gost Zvuk with a much-anticipated showcase of his remarkably diverse language of sound, from quickfire DJ tools to off-kilter extrapolations with a full stylistic diversity in between.

Working through the archive, the label assembled a collection of hypnotic loops in the vein of early Robert Hood and click-and-cut experiments that recall the punk attitude of Berlin's Elektro Music Department, all the while with nods towards European minimal. The album opens with two subdued, speak-and-spell processed vocal jams before 'Text Regulator' brings things into overdrive with furious drum programming and wide-eyed glitch FX. Over to Side B things take a turn into something more melodic and relaxing, an almost BBC radiophonic workshop zone with synthetic underwater sounds bringing to mind Amadeo Tomassi's library soundtracks of the late 70s. Think of early sonic portrayals of deep space exploration or the ocean's vastness mixed with repetitive 909 stabs.

‘I Play Everyday’ strikes as one of the album's highlights, a prime example of Zuckerman’s fascination with creating loop-based grooves to get lost in. There’s a hint of Richard H. Kirk’s 90s IDM classic ‘Freezone’ in the timbre of the opening moments, but where Kirk goes into sample-heavy cross-cultural futurism, ‘I Play Everyday’ seems acutely concerned with subtle reductions. ‘Extra Work’ harnesses a kind of pounding warehouse gabber energy with what sounds like a collage of shortwave radio voices, whereas album closer ‘Companeros’ brings in snippets of traditional Spanish-style acoustic guitar, albeit layered in a concrete manner with bursts of electrical distortion. It makes for one of the LP’s most surprising moments, but all round ‘Phenomenon of Provincial Mentality’ shows an artist working with a vast variety of styles. A truly great body of work to kick off the year.

Hailing from Croatia, Lab Personnel is a musical collaboration turned collective and label between many like-minded artists such as Goran Lautar (aka Neon Lies), Jasmin Mahmić (aka Le Chocolat Noir, Fiume & more), Luka Kurjan (aka Man of Cloth), Marijan Katić, Nikola Kos (aka Ikonal) and Saša Rajković (aka Zarkoff, part of Sumerian Fleet, part of Neugrau & more). Over the years, they would occasionally meet for and record lengthy sessions of improvisational music. 'Marked for Disassembly' is their latest output.

This time, deep within the skeletal remains of an abandoned chemical processing plant, eight of their members captured the disquieting essence of a world suspended between haunting melodies and forgotten industry. Immersed in an atmosphere of palpable musical anxiety, their machines oozed up a sonic alchemy of experimental EBM where strange syncopated drums meet with eerie acid lines and gooey textures.

"Marked for Disassembly" is set to be released on Mar 20th across all digital platforms, accompanied by a beautiful UV printed cassette.

Today on the Meta Moto platform, we unveil the Human Figures track, "Conversations Held," set to release under the Raw Culture label. The profound truth that genuine beauty often arises from the careful fusion of minimal elements transcends mere cliché. In "Open Windows," the delicate interplay of Roland CR-78, acoustic guitar, and dissonant organs masterfully illustrates this concept. These sparse yet potent elements, oscillating between distant echoes and intimate crescendos, form a backdrop of melancholic nostalgia, guiding listeners through the evocative landscapes crafted by Human Figures. Daniel Lewis, with his latest endeavor, finds his creative roots nurtured by releases on Frigio Records, rendering the term "new" a fitting but somewhat restrictive label. His distinctive sonic palette bears the imprint of diverse influences spanning the post-punk and wave scenes.

Within the eight tracks of "Open Windows," folk traditions are reimagined through a contemporary lens, seamlessly intertwining poignant ballads with rapid, experimental melodies. Acid Camp is excited to announce a new compilation album. The album celebrates the label’s 10 year anniversary with 35 artists—of which 25 are releasing with the label for the very first time.

As the largest release in the record label’s history, Acid Camp: 10 Year Anniversary Compilation dramatically expands upon Acid Camp All Stars Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 (both 2018) with more than triple the number of featured artists. Ten return to the label, including Eric Cloutier and Jeremiah Chiu, while Abby Echiverri, Bézier, Force Placement, and 32 more celebrate their first track with Acid Camp.

From Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Berlin to Tokyo, the artists represent the breadth of the underground and independent music scenes of the 2020s and underscore the collective strength of Acid Camp’s community since 2013. The release spans dancefloor-forward acid house and techno to ambient, downtempo, and funk selections. Lyrics are cut and collaged; synths are squelched; grooves are grooved.

100% of the album's profits will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), founded over 30 years ago in 1991. PCRF is the leading nonprofit organization providing medical care and diverse humanitarian assistance to countless children in the Middle East.

As the head of the Minimal Wave and Cititrax labels, Veronica Vasicka has been a prominent figure in the world of synth and wave music for more than a decade. Yet somehow, she's never shared any original music of her own. On November 2, however, that is set to change with the release of 'From Here,' a tune that she originally made back in 2004. Along with the original, the full EP – which will be arriving via the Downwards label – includes several reworks of the track, including this ominously lithe remix from Regis. The song debuted on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.
