Last spotted one 1 More Thing in October 2022 with the killer Patreon exclusive jam Algorithms, rising US drum &  bass craftsman ESKR returns to the scene of the crime...

In the six months that have passed he’s been relentless in his consistency and presence with his signature well-oiled D&B grit appearing on the likes of Ram Records, Dirtbox, Boomslang, Patrol The Skies and Covert Garden.

Many more dispatches are locked and loaded in the near future, including a return to Grand Theft Audio, the label who brought him to 1 More Thing’s attention in the first place. That’s happening on April 21. In the meantime, get to know Brett ESKR Baker’s story as we learn how his roots dig deep into the North American drum & bass movement for over 24 years.

Wreckless returns to Dispatch Limited with another impressive EP. Five varied, tough tracks with serious bass lines and infectious, rolling grooves. Wreckless once again takes the listener on a journey through the soundscape of each track, covering heavier, dance-floor territory matched with his trademark atmospherics.

The title track ‘Mind, Body, Spirit’ is inspired by the Oscar Wilde quote “Everything in moderation, including moderation” which guided Wreckless’ production process. ‘Prayers for Leaders’ aims to remind us that wisdom and guidance are needed for everyone, even if we don’t agree on political views.

‘Lungs’ is a sonic experiment focusing on the breaths in between vocals, making these the focus. A reminder that the real groove is in the gaps between. On ‘Soho’ Wreckless endeavoured to keep his production as clean as possible; after hearing a friend’s tunes in a post-production studio in Soho and wanting to achieve the same results.

‘Assam’ is an exploration of the drones which feature heavily in Indian music, and takes notable inspiration from the Beatle’s output during their Revolver and Sgt. Pepper’s period. For the Dispatch exclusive track, Wreckless adds the Spirit to this EP, with a pattern inspired by the Ichthys symbol of his faith.

Back from taking the week off and I was ready to spread my wings. Again, this session touches on a lot of different sounds. Got some feelgood rollers at the start, kind of atmospheric and soulful, moves into more driving liquid and about halfway into tech-inspired rollers. Dips down into more minimal wobblers during hour two before ramping back up into more soaring dancefloor rave territory towards the end. Sort of all over the place but in my head it made sense kind of lmao. Big up to everyone who came through for the stream. Cheers 🧡

Hue Jazz live at Mechanix

Getting their start in a Wisconsin town with an almost nonexistent Drum and Bass scene, Hue Jazz has been working to spread the music they love. Their sets are normally done on three turntables and include the full spectrum of DnB sound, with an emphasis on unique and modern productions. The two members, Chris and Evan, met at Army basic training; since then, their friendship and musical tastes have grown and evolved into the hard-hitting sound their sets are known for. They made their festival debut in 2016 at Sonic Fusion and have opened for artists such as Downlink, Dieselboy, The Prototypes, Herobust, and DJ Swamp.

About 5 months ago my brother and I were on a long drive and the original “Start again” by Kidnap came on and we started singing it together, I remember when the song ended thinking to myself that Id like to try and remix the song into a drum and bass track. I wanted to remix this song because this was a core memory of something my brother and I have always done together, growing up there has been tones of songs that my parents have shown us over the years that have lead to lyric engraving for my brother and I to sing together but for this one it was something more then just another song. I don’t know why specifically, maybe because of how sunny it was that day or because of where we were going or maybe just because we were both so happy during that moment and nothing else mattered. I beyond stoked to finally have this one out for you to listen to and eventually sing along with me and my brother.
