Hot on the heels of the A-Sides Volume 5 compilation, Enrico Sangiuliano makes his return to Drumcode with his highly anticipated EP ‘Moon Rocks’. The heavy hitting four track EP shines a light on Sangiuliano’s tight, thundering production skills. The hoover heavy lead track ‘Moon Rocks’ is packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos. The EP encapsulates Sangiuliano’s wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the fat bass line of ‘Moon Rocks’ to the more delicate harmonies shown within the ‘Dutch Kiss’ mixes whilst ‘Ghettoblaster’ sits somewhere in between.

Moby is a name synonymous with us all in the electronic music world and we are lucky enough to have been able to hand select some Drumcode artists to remix his work. This 9 track package included remixes from Enrico Sangiuliano, Dense & Pika, Bart Skils, Alan Fitzpatrick, Marco Faraone, Tiger Stripes, Manic Brothers and Luca Agnelli. Each one has been thought out and accomplished with precision using some of Moby’s synonymous samples.

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead whos legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell. 

The new Intec release welcomes Boris who is a Russian born and NYC based DJ whose Techno sound has been in high regard since he first appeared on Dubfires revered SCI+TEC imprint. Since that release Boris has featured on labels including Octopus, Tronic, Terminal M, Suara, Toolroom Trax, Phobiq, and his own Transmit Recordings. Having been a resident at nearly every major club in his home city of New York, including venues like Pacha, Crobar, and Roxy. Boris has also travelled the world playing headline DJ sets everywhere from Womb in Japan to Space in Ibiza. 

Underground starts with the crunch of a heavy kick drum that cuts through the rumble of the rolling bassline. Full throttle and packed with energy, the track has a dark mood and deep atmospherics. Taking its title from the twisted vocal sample, this is dancefloor focused Techno at its best. 

Go Bang is pushed forward by the offbeat stab of the lead pad that lifts the track with its explosive bursts. Textured vocals chopped into looped phrases combine with fast flowing hi-hats to create the tracks fast and furious groove. Intense and relentless, this Techno workout is perfect for peak time DJ plays. 

U Better has a raw sound packed with snare rolls and dramatic synths that are dark and sinister. Building with tension, the track focuses on a series of bass drops where each one is more gripping than the last. Thundering like a freight train, this track is guaranteed to blow the roof off in any Techno club!

When I was selecting tracks for my essential mix Clint send me his newest productions. I immediatly fell in love with the tracks and included one in my mix and signed the two tracks for Terminal M. The new Intec release is from Cristian Varela who is a DJ icon that has been involved with Intec since its inception.

Acknowledged as one of Spain’s pioneering Techno producers, Cristian Varela was one of the first Spanish DJ’s to receive global success and become an international artist, thus pathing the way for others to follow in his footsteps.

Originally gaining fame for playing Techno on four turntables, many do not realise Cristian Varela is also a successful composer scoring soundtracks for film, theater and television. He has even recorded a symphonic album at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.

“Project10s” starts with burst of white noise that is pushed aside by the rising lead synth which pulsates with a building tension. Menacing with a subtle euphoria, this high-octane Techno workout is crisp and precise with master crafted attention to detail.

“C-Duct” has a hard hitting kick drum and fast flowing industrial hi-hats that combine with a powerful clap to create a punishing groove. Dark pads merge with a gothic melody to create a sinister atmosphere, which gives the track an enthralling energy perfect for the dancefloor.

“Fabrika2” is centred around mechanical snare rolls and a stabbing lead synth, which morphs and modulates as the track twists and turns. Warped and trippy, this psychedelic animal is fast and ferocious with a taste for blood!
