Fun Facts:
* Aeroplane is a guitar piece in a non-standard tuning – DADFCE.
* A man called Hum showed George this tuning at party in Exeter in about 1994 or 1995.
* Lovely as it was, George found it very hard to write something within its confines until late 1996.
* Aeroplane was the first tune George wrote upon moving to Prague, near the Pražského Povstání metro station.
* He says “There wasn’t too much else to do when I first got there, with just an acoustic and the World Service for company.”
* Phil the Fiddle played some lovely soaring thermals during the frequent Doctor Watson performances on Karlov Most.
* When it was time to record Aeroplane, no fiddle player was available.
* Lucy stepped in and did much the same kind of thing on her 150-year-old blonde cello, which shook the whole room with its magnificence.
* George drew inpiration for this piece from his first ever flight, looking down on London and the clouds for the first time.
* He describes the flight as “being on this big metal thing that I couldn’t possibly lift, held in the sky with magic.”
* Aeroplane is dedicated to Jana “Sweet Jane” Koubova, who helped with the Czech language and was George’s first native Czech friend.

Fun Facts:
This version was the second or third take, fortunate really as Ken’s Flambeau acoustic had battleship chains for strings.
Paul wrote the little guitar lick at the start of the chorus from which the rest of the song develpoed.
Ken composed the lyrics, the vocal melody and the scat singing at the end.
The rest of the music was composed by George.
During more foolish moments, some of the lyrics were changed.
For example, “Burning insects on the breeze” and “It’s raining golden showers on the lawn” were often sung instead of the proper lyrics.
This song is about a lady from India who Ken knew in Richmond, Surrey, rather than warm weather in the autumn.

Arctic Rain

A full time, freelance children's book illustrator, introduced to Magix music making software in January 2014.  Haven't been near music production since school about a hundred years ago.  Can't play a note, and sing like a drain unblocking - Hence any music I may eventually have the nerve to upload is all created using midi/vst instruments playing compositions created in the piano roll editor.   The Magix forum dedicated to music production is the only place to suffer my creations so far.  Didn't realise it could be so much fun though.  Woohoo.
