The Gulf Gate Project is a two man electronic music production group consisting of brothers Scott and Sheldon Gau.  Growing up in the Sarasota, FL area, the Gau brothers were influenced early on by the Florida breakbeat scene of the late 90's and early 2000's.  They began releasing tracks with fellow DJ/Producer Adam Fox under the name The Gulf Gate Project in 2008 with their first release 'Top Gear' on Krispy Beatz Records.  Shortly thereafter Scott, Sheldon, and Adam started their own label, Toast & Jam Recordings, and began releasing tracks on their own imprint.  As Toast & Jam had yet to be accepted officially by Beatport, The Gulf Gate Project sought out Lee Martin of Dusted Breaks to release their Illuminati EP in November of 2010.  That release saw The Gulf Gate Project's first top 40 hit on Beatport's breaks chart and from there the boys never looked back.  2011 saw the release of The Gulf Gate Project's Sound Chip EP on Plasmapool's breaks label Noize Recordings.  Sound Chip as well as the B-side 'I Don't Need Your Love' both reached the Breaks top 20 on Beatport.  Later that year, Toast and Jam launched their first release on Beatport 'Beezy.'  The Electric Soulside Remix went #1 on the breaks chart and held that spot for 6 weeks, earning it a top 10 nomination for Breaks track of the year in 2011 as well as a Breakspoll nomination.  After spending all of 2012 in the studio working on a new EP as well as an all new live show, The Gulf Gate Project hit the ground running in 2013 with their 'Believe What You Say' EP.  Curiously enough, the title track 'Believe What You Say' peaked as a top 30 track on the breaks chart, due largely in part to the Beatport preview clip which included only a breakdown section of the track.  It turned out that the B-side 'Sally's Revenge' was the crowd pleaser peaking at #17 on the Breaks chart.  And that brings us to today.  In June of 2013, Scott and Sheldon relocated the studio to the San Francisco bay area and were forced to part ways with Adam.  Adam stayed in Sarasota and currently does all of the mastering for Toast & Jam, as well as provides invaluable consultation in regards to track production for The Gulf Gate Project.  Since moving to San Francisco in June, Scott and Sheldon have ramped up studio production and have completed production on a new original release and remix for label mate Tomas Balaz, as well as a promo remix of Lorde's 'Royals' which is currently available for free download on The Gulf Gate Project Facebook page.  The new original track 'Silicon Soul' and the remix of Tomas Balaz - Digidisco, are both slated for release in early 2014.
