Mixtape #1 Lost in Music (deep house & disco live mix) [re-post] TRACKLIST INCLUDED

It’s the year 7527, humans have long developed warp speed space travel, which is primarily used for unmanned mining ships, using robots and androids to retrieve minerals from asteroid belts and planets on the outer rim of the Andromeda galaxy. Even at warp 9.9 it still takes 300 years to reach the Andromeda galaxy from Earth.

Most of the population of Earth are cyborgs, sophisticated machines with a human brain, interspersed with chip implants. Their Lifespan can be as much as 400 years. On the outside they never age, only the brain eventually deteriorates. Deep space is not a place for humans or cyborgs due to the vast distances. However, there are a few gutsy explorers who use the technology of cryosleep and warp speed to make their way to the Andromeda galaxy.

Cryosleep has a maximum use of 200 years at a time, the user then has to be revived for the brain to secrete it’s natural plasma to stay in good health. In the middle of the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies is the infamous ‘Intergalatic Lounge’ where traveller’s ships dock to come out of cryosleep and recharge the brain.

Science shows they must be awake for at least an hour and gradually move around to begin their recreation. They employ the old human tradition of ‘dancing’ to achieve this. Even after all this time it is widely regarded the early 21st century of human life was the pinnacle of the arts, so music is played from this era, by the ancient art of ‘DJing’.

The distance travelled means these fearless explorers will never live long enough to return to Earth, they are known as the ‘Lost Souls’.

Toby Tobias joins Delusions again for what will be his sixth(!) 12” entitled
The Rain. The prolific Londoner whose releases have graced such
venerable labels as Rekids, ESP Intistute and Let’s Play House, is back with
a vengeance, delivering two mighty fine originals plus a remix from
Nebraska.
In true Toby Tobias style, The Rain got made on an MPC, sliced and
edited from a single live take through the desk then accidentally deleted so
no further mixing, sequencing or editing could be carried out. But what is
an A&R man’s nightmare, turns out to be the record buying DJ’s gain, as
the improvised, dubby vibe and raw as ***k mixdown give the track an
authentic feel and energy which could only come from the madness in
Toby’s method.
Fresh from his brilliant releases on Mister Saturday Night and Razor n Tape,
we have our man Nebraska do his thing on the remix of The Rain.
Dropping down the BPM’s a bit from Toby’s more frenetic original,
Nebraska add’s a healthy dose of moogy lead lines to the lo-slung house
groove, perfect for warming up the dancefloor.
Closing this release we have New Way Of Feeling which sees Toby in
playful mode with a percussion heavy, driving basement jam. FM pads
form the centerpiece of the track whilst flourishes of Juno come and go,
hints of early 90’s IDM shining through on the glistening sine-wave
melodies. All in all a glorious melting pot of ideas and influences all over
this release which make for one of his strongest yet for Delusions.

It's a mix created in lockdown, however, it's a mix to remind us there was a life before lockdown and there will be a life after lockdown, bustling cities, beaches, parties, people dancing.
The first minute intro is just random sounds I collected in New York City in 2015, the first half hour are classic leftfield records from around 20+ years ago, records I can't live without, records that showed me there was a wealth of alternative cool music out there, even more than just straight up house and techno. The first record is aptly titled "Rebirth", to symbolise the hope as many of us as possible will come out on the other side.

The mix gets going proper around 30mins in with some funk from Art of Tones and Ron Basejam. The middle hour I really felt in the zone, it's quite deep, while trying to keep the groove going throughout.
It's a cliche, nevertheless, music has always been about feeling for me, good headphones on and just completely lose yourself, either floating away or imagining you're going for it on the dancefloor.

Electronic music is also very much about the environment in which you listen to it. The first half hour you could easily be dancing in a club in London, few drinks, more sophisticated crowd. The middle hour could be anywhere from Berlin, to somewhere more exotic like a club or festival in Colombia, Brazil, Mexico etc., then coming to the end of this section easily be in Ibiza having a proper session, or an after party back in London.

The last half hour I was feeling a bit tiddly myself, couple of mistakes, lost focus, could be anywhere lol.
On the whole wanted to make a mix that was nice listening you would listen to again and again, as it's tracks from the last 25 years, it really is timeless. For some people may be nothing new, others may turn them onto something new. Hadn't recorded a live mix for five years, since Glastonbury, so the pressure was definitely on. Digital recording is very unforgiving, picks up everything, crystal clear.

Anyone who collects underground music knows it's sometimes very difficult to get the tracks you want, it's a lot of work searching. Would like to thank Moxie, Sebastian Grand, Djoon Club Paris, Local Talk Sweden and Philip West for some hook ups of hard to find tracks/formats. Lockdown LIVE Mix April 2020 Leftfield, Deep House and Disco TRACKLIST INCLUDED

Nick was buying house music before he even knew what house music was. As a teenager in the late 80's he was buying remixes by Tony Humphries and Todd Terry innocently unaware of the business of record labels, club culture and the whole house scene that was blowing up in Chicago and New York. He was buying it because he loved the sound. With regular visits to the world's oldest record store, Spillers Records, in his home city of Cardiff, Wales, to buy records of varied styles and sounds. In the early 90's all that changed as he came of age and entered the club scene, checking out the sounds of some of his favourite spinners and inspirations such as Derrick Carter, Farley Jackmaster Funk, X-Press 2, Kerri Chandler, Dimitri from Paris, Louie Vega, The Humph and Todd. DJing at clubs, bars and private parties in his home city, with regular Ibiza trips from 1994, as well as the Amsterdam Dance Event and the Miami Winter Music Conference. However, it just wasn't enough.

In the early noughties Nick relocated to London and worked for major house players Defected Records, marketing UK top 10 records, to more deeper, groovy, underground tracks, being a key player in the label's transition to the digital age. As Simon Dunmore, owner of Defected quoted, "Nick has been a big part of Defected's evolution and what Defected is". He also had a large part, or a say, in some notable signings and remixes on the label. He brought 'Marc Evans - The Way You Love Me' to Simon and advised him to sign the record. He also presented one of the first 12" pressings of that record to 'Dimitri from Paris', infamously telling him it was a great record, but, 'it needed strings'. Dimitri then went on to remix the track and put ‘The Sound of Philadelphia’ (TSOP) orchestra on the record, which was pressed as a limited edition 45, and became one of the most treasured releases in Defected's history, touted as a modern soul classic. Other involvement on tracks of note included 'Ame - Rej', 'Mr.V - The Bump' and 'Dennis Ferrer - Hey Hey', among others. He also worked closely with legendary New York label Strictly Rhythm, Erick Morillo's Subliminal Records, Kenny Dope, BBE and Gilles Peterson's Brownswood label and Worldwide events. Nick was the first person in the UK to champion The Martinez Brothers, being involved in their early years before they were even DJing in clubs, through his ties with Dennis Ferrer and Defected, he introduced them to Frankie Knuckles, Ibiza and used to sneak them into clubs in Miami when they weren't old enough to get in.

More recently Nick has been involved with design supremos Block 9 who are responsible for what has been called, ‘one of the best clubs we’ve ever been to’, by Mixmag, and 'the best club on the planet' by devotees, with their own area at world famous Glastonbury festival. He was asked to play and close one of the rooms at their revered NYC Downlow party, which has been described as, "NYC Downlow creates the vibe of New York City in the 70s where people ‘clubbed’ together whether gay, straight, tranny, black, white, latino or just curious: an infectious mix that energised one of the most exciting vibes you could experience with an ‘anything goes’ attitude.' This description sits perfectly with Nick's eclectic mixes from all genres of house, disco, funk, soul and techno, with always enough groove and energy for the most discerning dance floors. Playing to people who know their music and those who are open minded to discover more.
