Wake up today, turn on your computer and the prevailing narrative is that we should be afraid. Living in fear of terrorists, "thugs", immigrants, the transgendered, etc.. Everyday we're supposed to update our anxiety with a new source of fear, clumsily stereotyped and packaged into a 140 character headline. Always given the "what" but never the "why" or "how". 

Wake up today, turn on your computer and the prevailing rhetoric is that we should be vigilant. Waging righteous wars against war-torn refugees, black kids carrying skittles, and the LGBT community attempting to live and love without persecution. All to make our neighborhoods, lawns, and bathrooms great again. 

When I woke today, I was afraid. But not towards a religion, not towards a race of systemically-oppressed people demanding that their lives finally matter, and not even towards a man with small hands doing his best Hitler impersonation.. I was afraid of myself. 
I saw my reflection in the screen and was afraid of my own apathy

At what point does our collective calloused indifference become responsible for these mass killings. 
At what point do we take ownership of our ignorance and start asking questions when we know the answers are bullshit. 
At what point do we realize that we are more powerful than any gun lobby and that our voices do matter. 

So today, I was vigilant. To keep up with the 133 mass shootings this year alone, I helped by donating blood to the Red Cross. Then I called my congresswomen and congressman asking why my gay friends still can't and why congress continues to deny the CDC from studying gun violence. Then I confirmed my registration to vote in November, because our voices do fucking matter.

In the wake of these tragedies we're quick to point fingers but never at ourselves. 
We're prone to speak the name of the infamous and forget the names of the innocent lost. 

so I looked myself in the reflection and asked my fear "do you need me, like i need you?"
I asked my apathy "do you need me, like I need you?"


Fuck fear, Fuck apathy,
Stay vigilant.

I Like You

I started this song about a year ago at around 3 in the morning, back when I was in my old apartment. I’ve always loved creating stories in my head about situations that could possibly never happen, kinda like the plot of a movie but its all in your head, and thats mostly how I go about creating the lyrics to my songs; by telling a story. This song tells the story of a guy who’s spiraling out of control; he then meets a woman who promises him fame, luxury and all the things that come with it. Because of this, he sells her his soul. Theres a thousand ways you can interpret the story, but we wanted to leave that up to you. This story isn’t about me, in case your wondering I’ve never even been to California, but it resonates with me because I hope that if I make it far in this industry, I always stay true to myself and others and never “sell my soul” for the luxury and the fake friends and all that shit. I wanna be the realest I can be, and keep making the music that feels right to me, next to the people I love. I wanna thank Maria for absolutely killing it and being a part of this project; This song would have sucked without you! Definitely keep an eye on her because she’s one of the most talented up and coming female artists in the game and I’m sure she’s gonna take the world by storm in 2019!
