Dance With The Snake

Sacred Bums came as an idea in spring 2016.. At the time, the idea was to record as a one-man-band some traditional blues&gospel songs... And then it hit me...Call some musicians I know and see what the turnout will be... The final result was 8 tracks and a total of 16 people involved in this venture. 
This is an all-covers album of blues songs from 1961 and backwards. 
This digital record is for pleasure, DOWNLOADING and sharing(WAV files). NOT FOR SALE!!!!!

This track has been made in three “phases”. Firstly the lyrics were conceived somewhere in 2006-2007 in Birmingham, UK. Secondly, in the summer of 2012, at “studio Eforia-Dasarheio” took place the recordings of drums, bass, vocals and one synthesizer, most probably an instrument from the Nekobee software in Linux. The bass is the Ibanez SR300 overdriven by a Gyuatone Flip BB-X pedal. Xubuntu and Ardour 2.8 were used those days. Drums played by Stelios Stergiou. For the overhead microphones two small oval tv speakers were reversed and used as microphones. The piece took its final form in 2017 at bab studio. Especially the middle part had been completely restructured, with samples from the old recording, this time in Xubuntu running Ardour 4. The self made plate reverb is featured for the first time, as the duet qmidiarp – Alsa Modular synth, an ensemble that is heavily used still today. The track is a remnant of a troubleless era, when travelling was frequent and reflects this mood when everything goes well. On the female vocals is Angeliki Hortaria and on the guitars, Andreas Agrafiotis. Track re-edited in 2020.

Nickolas G., is a Greek song-writer for more than 30 yrz and usually performs as a one man band. 
He plays conventional musical instruments(guitar, bass, purcussion) while he creates his own musical instruments too. 
All his recordings take place at his home-studio and loyal to the DIY principles.
