Following their work together with The Telescopes and One Unique Signal, Stephen Lawrie and Nick Keech (solo moniker ‘Cedres’) have turned their attention to a collaborative EP, sonically far removed from the wall of noise listeners may understandably have come to expect.

Perennially evolving, The Telescopes have over the course of recent albums, morphed once again into a largely song based output, and with Nick’s solo work as Cedres similarly mining a gentler aesthetic (see previous two releases, the sylvan 12 minute debut, ‘Sheltered Under Oak’ and follow up EP ‘Asbenoi', hymns to avian life), the end result here was perhaps inevitable.
Feedback and dissonance are retained, yet here they co-exist between intimate close mic vocals, room ambience and the background fizz of rain, sea and storm.

Taking three years to complete from initial sketches to final mixes, the germ of inspiration for 'The Signalman' was born out of personal loss as an act of tribute. That said, the warmth, reflection and air of nostalgia at the heart of these pieces holds the door wide open for individual interpretation and ownership.
