All The Wrong Notes (live recording)

Netmoiré is an improvisational trio featuring Jason Charney (computer), Josh Simmons (computer), and Nick Zoulek (saxophones). The trio came together while pursuing graduate studies at Bowling Green State University, and bonded over a shared passion for improvisation. Searching for the overlaid patterns found through improvisational networking, Netmoiré creates an energetic, abstract, and mercurial experience that blends the avant-garde with electronic, beat-driven music. Their influences and inspirations include Death Grips, Colin Stetson, J Dilla, Tim Hecker, Evan Parker, Ben Frost, and most importantly, an affinity for chaotic sound.

Thomas Kotcheff (b. 1988) is a Los Angeles based composer and pianist. His music has been described as “truly beautiful and inspired” (icareifyoulisten.com) and “explosive” (Gramophone magazine). His compositions have been performed internationally by The Riot Ensemble, New York Youth Symphony, wild Up, Sandbox Percussion, Trio Appassionata, Argus Quartet, Lyris Quartet, Alinde Quartett, USC Thornton Edge, The Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, HOCKET, Peabody Percussion Group, Latitude 49, and the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble amongst others.

(just like everyone else in LA) I am inspired by John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Michael Giacchino, and Martin O’Donnell. My hobbies include playing video games, watching movies, reading, and playing piano. I have a BA in Music Composition from Occidental College.
