Harry C. Browne sings lead and also plays banjo on this record. Originally composed and published in 1880. Harry C. Browne specialized in throwback songs of the 1880s and 90s. He also was a an actor in a few silent film s of the teens! Later on, he worked in radio, both behind and in front of the scenes, in the 30s. Interesting  person!

I love the use of the calliope and it's solo on this recording.
Originally composed by Julius Fucik in 1897 ( also know as Thunder and Blazes).  It was intended to be used as a serious military march but circuses in the early 1900s adopted it as their favorite "screamer march" and re-named it "Thunder and Blazes."

Charley Case only made 3 recordings. The other 2 are: "How Mother Made the Soup" and "Father As a Scientist". His comedy is subtle, and his delivery is very deadpan. It's hard to believe this record is 111 years old because this monologue sounds like modern stand-up comedy.
