He starts us off by using rhythmic beeps and a mellow synth stabs to create a driving rhythm before the atmospheric pads create a beautiful setting, which fires with all guns blazing to produce a club monster that growls. Combining the best of both worlds, he has come up with something unique and distinctive to make this release extra special while applying an extra dose of groove and warmth to this incredible tune. 'Do It Twice' stands for a foolproof and state-of-the-art piece of music, which will readily make you, take note and amaze in equal measures. 

On remix duty we have non other than label alumni Emi Galvan, famed for his endless high quality productions, whose interpretation sounds mature, effortless, and full of subtle nuance. Never one to be bound by any particular style or genre, this is him taking a deeper route. Emi delivers a bittersweet, quality fuelled, melancholic rework that manages to get your legs shaking with each downbeat. Epic stuff!

Adding to our list of all-star remixers, we brought in French maestro Med In Mars who knows a thing or two when it comes to mind blowing reworks, turning his mix into an irresistible track using the original elements with perfection. Med layers more melodies and effects, whilst upping the flow with cleverly programmed tech percussion and his trademark FX elements, without destroying the essence of the original. His rework deserves to be branded 'essential' in any sense of the word.

Returning to Meanwhile with a full debut EP, Zankee Gulati continues his journey as a rising progressive house talent with the “Mind Opener / Magnetic Island” EP. A single remix comes from Argentinean duo, Analog Jungs.

A recognised force in his Sydney hometown, Zankee Gulati has continued to see his star shine increasingly bright within the underground dance firmament. An artist and promoter renowned for his spellbinding sets across Sydney’s clubs and for bringing the likes of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Ben Bohmer to New South Wales, the Australian’s performance in the studio has only cemented a rapidly growing reputation. A mounting catalogue of sumptuous offerings has increasingly featured on the likes of Sudbeat Music, The Soundgarden and Balance Music, plus a standout contribution to John Digweed’s “Futuro” compilation on Bedrock, with “Low Tide” in collaboration with fellow countryman, Jamie Stevens. Two appearances on GMJ & Matter’s imprints in December 2022 saw “The Magic Spoon” feature on “Beyond The Horizon, Vol. 2”, while “HereAfter” found its way onto the flagship label’s, “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 3” in July 2023.

Now hitting the heights once more, the light and airy tones of “Mind Opener” reveal themselves over a strong kick and ticking percussive top-line. Rippling arps and a strong motif keep the energy high as analogue edge gradually develops within the latter with an open filter creates a range of harmonic frequencies that shine over a beatless breakdown. Dropping back into the hefty rhythmic groove, the track then draws to its meticulously sculpted conclusion. “Magnetic Island” is a deep, chugging powerhouse. Full of rhythmic prowess and building elegantly through thumping kick and shaker-driven groove, a beautiful melodic passage develops within a hypnotic arp that filters to a powerful denouement in the final stages. The strong rhythmic narrative of its predecessor then finds its place once more in the final stages.

A single remix comes from Argentinean duo, Analog Jungs, who first came to Meanwhile prominence on their 3-track “Surrender” EP in March 2022. Already regulars on blue-chip labels that include Mango Alley, Hope Recordings and Manual Music, the Córdoba-based pair excel once more with a chunky interpretation that creates a trademark rhythmic foundation and driving bassline groove. Adding tropes from Zankee Gulati’s original, they turn “Mind Opener” into an exciting and dynamic new track that is redolent in additional production material and melodic invention. The result is a powerful remix that is an exceptional addition to the EP.

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes KYOTTO to the label for his debut EP. The Sri Lankan artist first appeared on the progressive music scene in 2017 with releases on Clinique Recordings, Hot Cue Music and Zephyr Music. The following two years yielded similar successes with a string of releases for Polyptych. Now following a contribution to the Shagara Records 'Stelliferous' compilation, KYOTTO debuts on Dopamine White with 'I Am Back'.

Beginning with the peak times vibes of 'Antimony' you get an immediate sense that KYOTTO has crafted some of his finest work to date. Tastefully melodic, it's vibrant arps and hopeful atmospheres unite for a smooth but powerful first act. Low end swells and layers of drums add depth and rhythm, before segueing into a near two-minute centrepiece. Free and flowing, the break builds tension through subtle modulation and emerging atmospheres, before a wave of drums sparks a powerful drop and exhilarating finale.

Continuing with 'State of Mind' KYOTTO goes a bit deeper with a roomier groove and spacious framework. Chunky bass tones and rolling percussion immediately create a great sense of rhythm, as spacey arps percolate across the first act. Add to that an array of astral effects and an expansive break and you've got something to bring fire to your dance floor.

Rounding out the release are the deeper more reflective qualities of 'Sweet Escape'. Perhaps the most heartfelt of the three, it relies on low slung grooves, hypnotic arps and dynamic percussion to carry it's stripped back groove. Once again warm overlays add a lovely sense of emotion, while sweeping effects and bubbly electronics highlight the main break. Quirky and creative, it makes for an intriguing conclusion to a superb collection of music from KYOTTO who makes an excellent Dopamine White debut.
