Markee Ledge is a deep drum & bass and dubstep DJ / producer
with a long history in underground electronic music.
 He made drum & bass as Substance in the 90s, releasing on labels like 
31 Records, Formation and his own Ruffneck Ting and Breakbeat Culture 
imprints. 
He was also the founder of electronic crossover band Kosheen which took Markee onto a bigger stage of festivals music awards, TV shows and touring the globe. 
More recently he’s also immersed himself in the 140 BPM scene with a love of deep UK dubstep and has had heavyweight releases on the likes of Tempa, 
Artikal Music UK, Uprise Audio and his own Zonal label. 
Although he’s always been a versatile producer in deep electronic
music, vocal tracks have always been his forte. Recently, he’s been
working with new vocalists on a collection of uplifting drum & bass
vocal tunes. Markee has sourced the singers from countries like Nigeria,
USA, The Netherlands and the UK, there are also familiar faces such
as MC Jakes and MC Megatron.

Pendulum are undoubtedly one of the biggest electronic bands of all time. With 3 platinum albums to their name including renowned debut ‘Hold Your Colour’ and a UK #1 and #2 for ‘Immersion’ and ‘In Silico’, the drum and bass/ rock band from Perth, Australia have sold over a million albums in the UK alone. ‘The World Goes Quiet’ is the first single and title track from the forthcoming album by Brighton based, 4 piece band Rubylux. The anthemic mix of rock and pop, with its soaring chorus and insistent bass line, is impossibly infectious and the perfect introduction to the band’s second studio album. 

Lead singer and guitarist Rob Humphreys, bassist Clark Coslett-Hughes, keyboard player Adam Harris and drummer Mike Hall are known for their ‘guerrilla street gigs’ across the country. Setting up on the street and playing for as long as possible, these regular free street shows helped Rubylux build a loyal fan following, funding their first steps towards recording their debut album ‘Fake Control’ with producer James Sanger. Although self released on a small scale the album still attracted the attention of media, such as The Guardian.

Rob explains, “We’d borrow a generator and PA system, and we’d set up around Brighton, blast out songs for 30 or 45 minutes, however long we could play before the police or council shut us down. Then we started recording those gigs, to sell them later on. We made enough money to buy our own gear, because the street gigs attract a ridiculous amount of people, far more than we’d play to a small venue in Brighton. It’s something we love and want to continue doing.”

With diverse inspirations (from Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles to Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and The Killers), the band’s own music sweeps the gamut from guitar pop to anthemic rock. Rubylux have already achieved impressive feats, such as the opportunity to play gigs in countries like Vietnam, Australia, USA and Germany as well as small venues across the UK. Alongside this, they have built up a thriving official fan club, leading to recognition at The Brighton Music Awards. Here, they received the best band accolade, garnering praise from the likes of Roger Daltrey and Jimmy Page who presented the award. Despite this, Rubylux are still just getting started.

Arguably ‘Brighton’s best kept secret’, Rubylux who formed five years ago are excited to take on the UK with their first major album release ‘The World Goes Quiet’ and it’s suspected they won’t be Brighton’s secret for much longer.

After a hugely successful support slot with Russian rock-group Mumiy Troll last year, the band will support them once more, this time at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on May 25th and, as previous winners of ‘Band of the Year’, they will be taking to the stage at the Brighton Music Awards in June.
