As a kid growing up in Illinois' tucked-away capital of Springfield, Justin Cudmore played the drums at home and in school as a jazz percussionist. In his college days Justin dove into electronic music, workshopping new-wave influenced beats in bands and DJing parties. Currently, Justin is a fixture across Brooklyn, popping up on dance floors and behind booths, where he has spun records at his Hotmix parties along with Mike Servito and Gunnar Haslam. 

“Crystal” is Cudmore’s debut 12” single. Raw, rough and ready to rumble, “Crystal” marries snaking acid lines and bouncy grooves to a sample from cult underground film classic 'The Queen'.  On the flip is Detroit-bred and Bunker resident DJ Mike Servito’s “730 Reshape”, that gives the wiggly worm vibe harkening back to the early days of Transmat, Warp and the minimalism of Dan Bell's DBX project. L.I.E.S. mainstay Gunnar Haslam provides his “Dekalb Avenue Remix” made while living in New York, a modular synth cruise with the top down. All tracks have been mastered and EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and labels are as pink as Crystal’s lipstick.

Who better to kick off the inaugural release of SOBO [Sounds Of Beaubien Ouest] than Patrick Holland, best known as Project Pablo. Affiliated with the Canadian Riviera's 1080p troupe, as well as Seb Wildblood's Church and Lone's Magicwire – Holland now adds Beaubien Dream as the fourth instalment to his 12" series. The Beaubien connection comes from Montreal's Rue Beaubien, of which Holland is a resident. SOBO is headed up by fellow longstanding citizens of the Beaubien Ouest hood, Arbutus Records and their extended family – of which Holland is an instrumental part.

An initial teaser of the EP's opening "Closer" was aired publicly during Holland's BR London set back in October, as well as his NTS appearance with Lone and Gabriola earlier this year. Now, after a patient seven-month wait, we can finally wrap our mitts around it in its entirety. Alongside its two subsequent components, the track acts as a homage to Holland's home. With its distinctive Dx7 melodies, jingly percussion provided by bells (of the cow variety amongst others) and an insatiable groove growing lazily throughout – "Closer" is instantaneous happiness.

5ive (@cosmes) and @Samo_DJ’s debut release as pairing on @publicpossession is a two-track EP titled ‘Some Song Teachers’. The A-side is a blissful cut, which forefronts a floaty synth line while the outer production swells with tremolo sounds and choral vocal samples.

Following their eponymously titled 2016 arrival on Midland's Graded imprint, as well as a recent follow-up on Dark Entries, @Solitary-Dancer return to the label on which they made their debut. Once again, this three-track 12” blends electro, ambient, and acid to superb, undeniably modern effect. 

With a running time of nearly 12-minutes, the title track 'Transmitting To Heaven' is an ambitiously sweeping cut that subtly moves through its various shades, from electro and acid, to strobe-lit 90s rave.

The B-side kicks off with 'Birth of Saturn', built around an arpeggiating synth that shifts and morphs throughout the track as the intensity ascends. The 12” closes off with 'At The End Of The Corridor Of Love, A Loss', a slow burning ambient piece that is as sombre as it is cinematic.

Side A features Andy, music made by Superpitcher in memory and admiration of a pioneer artist and his works. Andy Warhol looks a scream, Hang him on my wall, Andy Warhol, Silver Screen, Can't tell them apart at all, Andy walking, Andy tired, Andy take a little snooze, Tie him up when he's fast asleep, Send him on a pleasant cruise, When he wakes up on the sea, Be sure to think of me and you, He'll think, about paint and he'll think about glue, What a jolly boring thing to do. David Bowie’s lyrics about Andy Warhol mirror the groovy yet deeply moving emotion of this track. The music Superpitcher imagined here is a pleasant cruise in itself and once you wake up from it, you will for sure think of Andy.

Side B features Yves. The track starts with a long introduction of harp music and then gently evolves into one of the more fragile and poetic pieces Superpitcher has created thus far for The Golden Ravedays record. Similar to Andy this track is dedicated to an artist, Yves Saint Laurent. What is clear in this music is that there is an intense understanding of the suffering Yves Saint Laurent lived throughout his life as an artist and fashion designer. As only Superpitcher can, he translated that emotion into this beautiful and touching piece of music.

Peter Kruder and Rodney Hunter have been buddies for decades, growing up on the same block, it would only be a matter of time until the 2 boys would connect and start their legacy.
The story took shape, when Peter (15) and Rodney (13) decided to meet up on a daily basis at Peter's house to jam and to record their musical ideas on a stereo tape deck, combining all of their influences like, James Brown, Gary Numan or even Bauhaus in to a special Kruder/Hunter style, it wouldn't take long and these guys would write music history with their forthcoming, new projects.
years have passed and Peter and Rodney always stayed in touch, when they met it would occasionally happen that the two would reminisce about the past, those days when they would rock the tape deck.
one of those chats inspired both to meet up again and to work on new music, the only guideline was to finish the business with the spirit and ideas that they started out with back in the days.
the first results of these new jam sessions are two amazing tracks, the spectacular "this is what u get" and the mind-blowing tune entitled "addicted to ganja"
