Regular sparring partners in clubs the world over, DRS’ trademark measured Mancuian flow rides perfectly atop on Intalex’s soulful selection with his baritone delivery sitting sweetly and filling out the dynamic range of the rolling selections which reportedly feature, in some form, material from DRS’ forthcoming second album, Mid Mic Crisis.

Basically it’s a glorious and specifically tailored 62 minute mixtape showcase of DRS’ potency as a host, an emcee and a vocalist. But it comes mixed by Intalex which more than hints at the level of quality it contains... two of Manchester's finest in sterling form.

Soma welcome Techno behemoth Monoloc for his label debut with two dark, brooding Techno tracks in his inimitable style with the ‘Gipson EP’. Monoloc was born in 1980 in Frankfurt am Main. He first got in touch with the booming electronic music scene of this Techno metropolis at the age of 16 and soon bought his first set of records. Since then, his life has revolved around his ultimate goal; manifestation of his musical vision in the form of dj sets as well as his very own productions.

Title track Gipson kicks off with deep, pumping subs and kicks with a slowing evolving atmosphere creating great tension through the body of the track. Monoloc subtly pulls back the throttle only to launch back it with bold, crashing percussion. Most definitely one for the more moody dance floor.

On the flip, Cupel starts off a little lighter but defiantly delivers a punch. Muted kicks and atmosphere provide the backdrop while delayed synths trip out over the top. Monoloc picks up the pace ever so slightly as skipping hi hats given the track more urgency before ethereal pads glisten through the heart.

The Reunion was an invitation-only gathering of like-minded (New England) souls, taking place at The Hibernia in Boston on October 6, 2001. DJ's on the night included 333, MGee, and others.

The audio here as been restored from the original - highly distorted - master DATs. While some "coloring" or loss of frequency may be heard, at least the audio from the event can now be listened to for the first time in nearly 16 years.

The invitation itself was a business card-sized cd (pictured here), which contained a QuickTime movie, and also had contact information printed on the face of it (in case you couldn't play it). Both the video and print design were done by Aidrian O'Connor of UnitOne Studios. (The invitation video can be found on YouTube, using the search criteria, "Boston" "rave" "reunion" "2001"
