Anjunadeep The Yearbook 2013 (Bonus DJ Mix)

These snippets are a selection of abandoned concepts from late 2008 to 2011. They're in chronological order. In 2008, my hard drive crashed and I learned a hard lesson about backing things up. I guess all music I did until 2011 was an abandoned concept. If I'm stuck or looking for inspiration, I have been known to sneak into these project files and steal an element or two, so don't be surprised if you recognize a little synth motif or something like that.

1) Track1: This was supposed to be the first track to an album.
2) break it: Some breakbeats and vocoded vox
3) mini flow: I like this progression and have tried a few times to make it work since making this back in 2008
4) trentemore: Vocals a la Justin Oh!
5) revisedtoprog: Really busy synth work
6) 20103: Experimenting with reverb/delay automation fills
7) dominica: More Justin Oh vocals from a track I remixed of his… it's on my soundcloud page.
8) roots: Experimenting with vocal cuts
9) moviefxbeat: Experimenting with sampling my own piano/string stuff, and then messing with the loop
10) fallsafe: My first 1/8th note track.Maybe did this after hearing Adam K & Soha - Twilight
11) quickstring: Playing with Logic Pro's string section
12) twothounine: Standard prog stuff
13) twothoutest: Same project as #12 but a little different
14) castle: Obviously no knowledge about good compression/limiting/bass at this point… This is a full track more or less. I think I used some of those percussion elements in my Altara remix
15) hydro: Another 1/8th note track
16) dopdopdop: Beach
17) one thing: playing with some more aggressive bass patches. Probably listening to Wolfgang Gartner at this point
18) whereami: Glitchy perc with big atmosphere
19) eiei: Breaks with strings
20) thebreakdown: My interpretation of mainstream at the time…

Tritonia 034 (BEST OF 2013)

Here's another collection of abandoned concepts. This one is all from 2011. You'll hear some completely abandoned stuff, as well as some early versions of released tracks that very little like the final versions. You might hear a riff or two that you recognize from other releases... I still go into these tracks and take material if I'm stuck!

1) silky10: This was my first shot at the Soundprank - Burner remix... Don't know why I didn't go with this one...
2) Saveone1: Save One was one of my first releases. It was on Nueva. I spent a while trying to figure out how the bass should go. This one one shot at it.
3) Saveone2: And this is another.
4) Saveone3: And another.
5) industrial: Yup.
6) silkyredo: This is a remake of Silky10 from earlier. A little simpler. Still not what I wanted. 
7) KJS: Pretty straightforward. But this somehow did become the basis for the final Burner remix.
8) Funk4: This isn't really funky but... I took some elements from this for other tracks. That guitar wah wah thing is in my Tokyo Nights remix. 
9) Funk5: More of the same.
10) Funk12: Went off in a different direction... never finished. The glass synth is Reaktor... Steampipe?
11) justintest3: Trying to work on a remix for a Justin Oh track.
12) Bigbass4: Big bass.
13) Adbrown6: First take at my Why Do We Try? remix.
14) 303: A little 303 bassline with strings.
15) Newn1: Some elements from here have made it through... Maybe a little Avicii Levels inspiration here?
16) Newn3: Same project as above, different take.
17) Newn8: Same project again, new bassline and different feel.
18) Newn10: Again, same project... Refining...
19) Text1: Somehow, this is going to become my Twisted Monkey remix.
20) text4: Changing...
21) Text8: You can hear some of the resemblance now.

Here is a collection of some abandoned concepts from 2012. Some of it was the precursor to finished work, whereas some was an alternate version that went too far is some direction - usually for the worse. There's a lot less here compared to 2011, perhaps because I was finishing and releasing music by this point. Here's what's here:

1) funkyprogressive8: Would have loved for this to have a more disco feel.
2) slowdown4: This was the precursor to my Biologik remix (Sarin). Forgive the distortion in the mids. It sounds pretty similar to the final product but I thought was different enough to warrant including here. 
3) img9: Strings and progressive house, why not? First time with this new reverb patch on Guitar Rig 4. Really big wide reverb here. Maybe too big.
4) img15: A continuation of img9, but a little different. Very happy. 
5) maybeatremix1: Believe it or not, this is the beginning to my Warmest Day remix. Somehow! 
6) maybeatremix5: A continuation of the above. I want to use this bassline and synth arp line sometime. 
7) intri12: These vocal chops and guitar chops went on to be a part of my Time Is By Your Side remix. 
8) hmmm1: Same vocal chops as above, but with an 1/8th note synth melody. Oh, and same percussion as maybeatremix. This percussion actually went into Come Home.
9) hmmm2: Same as above but a different synth line.
10) hmmm2_2: Same project as above, different synth line, and vocals from my collab with Justin Oh. 
11) An earlier version of my Why Do We Try remix.
12) funkyprogressive1: An earlier version of the first track on this abandoned concepts track. 
13) newnnew1: I'm discovering Reaktor at this point. 
14) test2: Seems similar to newnnew1. I think this went on to become the final version of my Why Do We Try remix. 
15) Electrotest: Yup.
16) Sustainpedal: I didn't have a sustain pedal for a while because mine broke. I had finally gotten a new one and wanted to play with it.

'Colourful Emotions'

Here are all my abandoned concepts/tracks from 2013 to 2015. These are some of the songs I started but never finished. Most of it is actually alternate versions of finished songs. This is my last goodbye to these ideas. 

1) Timeisbyyoursumr1: I did a remix of a track called "Sumr". This was my first take at it. Oh, and why not put in John Ward's vocals from "Time Is By Your Side"... These are actually some of the nicest vocals I've ever heard.

2) GoDeep: A deep dark techno thing. Listen to that saw pluck melody. Recognize it?

3) Simplodeep: A little unfinished project with Sarah Clark's vocals chopped up.

4) Outtro: Feel good drum and bass.

5) BigpadsInfinite: An unfinished derivative of my "Outshine" remix by Myon & Shane 54.

6) Deep2: I wanted to finish this so badly but I couldn't make anything work.

7) TheWorld2: Inspired by Wolfgang Gartner

8) 115: Fun remix attempt at Eleven.five's "Thinks of Her"

9) SpaceMinus3: It's not related to Space Minus One, but... this went on to become the title track of my first album "Nothing Out Here": 

10) Intro: This was an abandoned attempt at the opening track for my first album "Nothing Out Here"

11) Danny: I made this while hanging out with @JustinOhMusic in South Korea in the summer of 2013. 

12) Loopy4: I liked how this one started by it got boring quick.

13) Jacobtest: Showing off some alternate ideas for Discover to Jacob Henry. 

14) Ad04NewGen: This was originally, long ago, a demo for Anjunadeep. Then I changed it around a bunch and made it more trancey. Then I abandoned it.

15) Laszlo: A collab glitch hop track with @laszlomusic that never got off the ground for time's sake. I ended up finishing it: "There For You Now" 

16) GuitarDnb: I have this idea to do some really laid back country style drum and bass.

17) Voly: Showed this off to Volant. We wanted to collab on it, but then life happened.

18) 80: This is the start of "Nova". 

19) ItStarts: The is the second half of "It Starts" that I cut out for pacing's sake.

20) Nodistortion: Why not throw in John Ward's vocals again. This went on to become "Cliche Lovesong"

21) DaftChords: Just playing with some resampled rhodes things.

22) JR: An unfinished glitch hop idea.

23) Lovesong: This bootleg version is what I used to convince Fenomenon to give me the vocal stems and let me work with them.

24) TL13: A bad attempt at a dubstep part in Space Plus One. 

25) Veryspacemuchstar: Just some angry bass and snappy percussion.

26) Funky: Funky stuff. I chopped this up and used it in "Falling A Little" and "Who You Are"

27) Fun3: Having fun with the melody from an all-time favourite, "The Matrix II" by The Cynic Project.

28) Dan2: Playing with the resampled rhodes from a bit earlier in this mix. I wanted @Danseig to jam on his guitar over this :)

29) Star: Just a little remix of an unreleased @Volant song. Tom, release it already!!

30) Understrings: Just the strings from "Bastion" that I was really proud about.

31) Yup: A derivative of "Future" with a cool lead thing.

32) Lol1: Listening to too much @Nanobii

33) YikesFuture13: Featuring a slightly aggressive section that I cut out. 

34) Whoaminow: This was an unfinished vocal collaboration. I can't show the vocal part but this was the ending of the track. It transitioned to a progressive track, and was an early attempt at trying to connect two distinct songs (tempo & key change)

36) Disappear: Early chord progression from "Disappear"
