Over the past few years my daughter has been living with me more and more, and like any parent knows your kid's music taste ends up rubbing off on you. When "Happier Than Ever" dropped in 2021, we had it playing every morning at breakfast for weeks. Each time "Not My Responsibility" came on, there was something about that moody, gloomy vibe (and the meaning behind the lyrics) that always stuck with me.

I'd told myself I'd try to tap into that atmosphere one day... then life happened, and I forgot about it. Until this summer, when the idea resurfaced out of nowhere and I finally sat down to explore that world. This track is the result.

On our 4th installment of This is Night Bass we’ve wrangled a nice mix of new and familiar names to the label, with sounds ranging from heaviest UKG to the grooviest house. We were stoked to land an epic tune from our globe-trotting Aussie friends Yolanda Be Cool and fellow Aussie bass-maker Wongo. On top of that we’ve got UK legends Champion and DJ Q each gracing our compilation with serious garage heaters. Night Bass resident badman Sinden drops some bassy darkness, while label newcomers Born Dirty, Dillion Nathaniel and Udachi deliver the quality goods, and Bijou returns with his first solo tune on Night Bass.
