"This mix is all about that 160bpm+ energy that first inspired me to make music. Around 1996 — to me at least, with the advantages of teenage naïvety — it seemed like electronic music had burst into a whole new tempo range, where there were no rules and anything was possible - as long as it BELTS (which is still true). If you go beyond 200 BPM, you reach that zone where 16th notes start to dissolve into 32nds and your brain latches onto a whole new outer layer of rhythm, like a fractal or temporal shepard tone. Chris Clark's music is hard to describe, but if you wanted to explain it to an electronic music fan, you might use the dreaded term "IDM" to encompass the many strange and alluring records, some frantic, some chill, the UK producer has put out through Warp over the years. We can be a bit more specific: he uses field recordings, out-there drum patterns and all kinds of hardware (seriously, there's a lot) to make make meticulously processed music, some of which you can dance to. Lately, though, he's turned his attention to classical music, scoring films and televisions shows and culminating in last year's Playground In A Lake for vaunted label Deutsche Grammophon, which featured guests like AFRODEUTSCHE and Oliver Coates and a member of Grizzly bear on a moving, string and horns-led suite about climate change.

You hear all these ideas at once on Clark's stirring RA Podcast, which features music, as he explains, from 1922 all the way to 2022. Classical rubs elbows with Burial and Ricardo Villalobos, as once familiar tracks melt into new (mis)shapes. It also features plenty of Clark originals—maybe some glimpsse of the new album? The best part isn't even the formidable selections, but the way he puts it altogether. Far from a seamless DJ mix, this one is full of peaks and valleys and clever transitions that'll make you check the tracklist and wonder what you just heard. It's the kind of all-over-the-place mix that captures the brilliance of Clark's in a DJ format. Maybe he should do this more often.

Bleep Mix #255 is a storming selection from eclectic Tel Aviv duo @redaxes built around a seamless club focused approach. Bleep Mix #255 - Red Axes

This month, we welcome our dear friend Shimon Danziger to the series, aka Celeryman.

Born and raised in Sydney, Shimon cut his teeth on the city’s club and warehouse scene. As 1/3 of the Innerspace collective, he ran a series of techno parties, hosting the likes of Peter Van Hoesen, DJ Nobu, Haruka and Wata Igarashi.

Having regularly attended and been influenced by outdoor festivals such as The Labyrinth, he moved to Japan during the pandemic and now lives with his wife in the countryside of the Oita prefecture. He has become an active member of the burgeoning Oita music scene, centred around a very special club, Azul, where this mix was recorded.

“This mix is a meditation on my recent musical journey. The move to Japan, coupled with the pandemic, has given me a stronger connection with nature and accelerated a shift in my listening habits away from the dance floor. I threw in a bunch of old favourites, some new finds, tracks from friends and quite a few Japanese artists who I have become familiar with since moving here. The scene here is unique, in that the deeper you look, there’s always more to find. And it makes me happy to be surrounded by people who take music so seriously.”

Also, they´ve produced small numbers of "Eureka Seven High Evolution promotional cassette tapes" which includes this track.

It will be also a „Bonustrack“ on the japanese Version CD of our „The Business Of Basslines“ Album later this month….
