'Back in July, punk rock wunderkind Bryan Kessler released his 'New York, Baby EP' on Get Physical Music. Now that the days are a little shorter and things have gotten a bit darker, October sees the release of the 'New York Baby (Remixes)'. 
Reworked by no less than the legendary DJ Hell and NIBC, New York, Baby, gets the old-school treatment by way of a dark, gritty makeover that leaves it fit for a dank basement party somewhere in uptown NYC. 
While DJ Hell delivers not one, but two equally grinding and hypnotic versions of 'Dr. Kessler' (names like Powerhouse and Simplicissmus give you a hint), NIBC strips away all of New York, Baby's percussive spice to replace it with more serious, anodine rhythms. Slow-moving, hard-hitting and with enough of an industrial twist to give it bona fide street cred.'

The number was emblazoned in illustrious writing upon the back of his shirt. As he ran desperately through the green grass he cast his mind back to days gone by, days long before he found himself to be number seven. Life was ever so simple back then and sport was but a game played amongst friends. Nowadays he found himself swamped by the glittering lights of camera flashes and the far fetched tales which surfaced each day. It was time to go underground. 

Kaye is remixed as part of a new EP from Ensemble. The multi instrumentalist from Singapore is remixed and reimagined by Gratts & NIBC Dwaallicht upon a release which seems to be very family focussed indeed.

A year after Eluize’s debut release on Night Tide, we’ve invited friends of the label Ena Cosovic, Panorama Channel and Gratts & Nibc to reimagine a selection of her tracks.

First up Ena Cosovic, co-founder of Copenhagen based True Rotary Recordings, Culture Box resident and dub techno specialist, has injected “Make Me Sin” with irresistible drive and punch. Dynamic stabs and compelling percussion support the aquatic swells, churning melodies and details from the original.

Russia’s Panorama Channel (Biologic Records) turn their hand to the track next, creating an electric, Italo touched builder, heightening the intensity with gritty synths, a biting snare and growling bass as the delicately eery piano riffs re-enter the fray.

Darker still, the Belgian and the Swede bring us their addictive “Catnip” version of “For the Forgetful”. Inspired by long mornings on the Berlin dance floor, the pair have created a groovy, hypnotic workout that revolves around a subby bass line and raw cuts of Eluize’s vocals to prop up the sleepless and induce movement during those daylight creeping, end-of-night denying moments.

Eluize adds her piece to the pack, unveiling a secret track made especially for the cassette release. “Never Think Before You Begin” is an ambient affair, slowed down and intimate, built from twisted vocal elements and layered piano punctuated with grainy percussive hits. The label founder also reworked “Make Me Sin” into a dub of sorts, stripping out the vocals to make space for the beautifully performed keys, uplifting arps and rippling leads to take centre stage.

Tony Neptune uses his first release to begin the tale of Yuri Gagarin, the cosmonaut lost to us all in 1961. He was the greatest explorer the world has ever known. Four pieces of original music have been composed to accompany the painting on the cover as part of a wider soundtrack to complement the narrative of this remarkable yet troubled man. An insert detailing the story will supplement the narrative of each issue.

On the 12th of April 1961, Yuri Gagarin was launched into orbit for the first and - so they tell us - the last time. Upon returning to Earth, Yuri became a global hero, travelling the world to tell of his adventure.
Secretly, he was plagued by strange hallucinations and a persistent glow around his vision; a cornucopia of colour in a constant corona. In 1964 - following a silent coup by Leonid Brezhnev - Yuri was banned from embarking on further manned missions into space. At first fearing madness, the cosmonaut came to see these apparitions as a signal, an invitation, a welcoming beacon from a distant lighthouse blinking across the cosmic void.

On the 27th of March 1968, aided by trusted friends within the space program, Yuri Gagarin swapped places with another cosmonaut on a secret test flight and was once more blasted into outer space. Knocked unconscious by the extreme velocity of his experimental craft, Yuri awoke a mere 15 minutes later in view not of the rapidly shrinking Earth, but an entirely alien vista; he was elsewhere...
