The 34th release on microCastle sees the long awaited re-issue of  Grammy nominated producer Barry Jamieson's 'Stars'. The seminal track was originally recorded in 2002 shortly after Evolution disbanded and was subsequently released in 2004 under the alias of Invisible Inc. The track gained huge popularity when Sasha began opening many of his sets with the ambient version well over a year before the official release. The storied UK DJ also featured 'Stars' as the closing track on his famed 'New Emissions of Light and Sound' DVD soundtrack which saw Sasha, Barry and Charlie May win best original score at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival in the Extreme Sports film category. It's irresistible and emotionally charged melodies made it one of the most sought after pieces of music at the time and was accompanied by several club interpretations for the official release. John Digweed was also a huge supporter of the record and featured the 'Unbroken' Mix in many of his live and radio sets. For the reissue we have included the original ambient and original club versions which have been previously unavailable along with brand new remixes from label artists Charlie May and Guy J.

Press release: NYC based producer / platinum mix engineer Brian Cid has been enjoying the best year of his surging production career. A diverse range of DJs that includes Hot Since 82, Jeremy Olander, Steve Lawler and Danny Teneglia have all declared their love for Brian's work. With his unique fusion of sultry beats, rich textures and uniquely tailored drum work, all rolled up in a vintage analog sheen, it's no wonder that such an impressive list of talent has been championing Brian's work. His recent double A-side release on Guy J's Lost & Found Records has been a production highlight and he closes 2014 with what is perhaps the most anticipated release of his career. Brian's debut EP for microCastle is entitled 'Jukebox' and it comes with three brand new original productions alongside remixes from King Unique and Tom Middleton.

Brian's swift rise through the electronic underground has already earned him a rabid following of fans hungry for new material. The US producers dark and mysterious production hallmarks are much loved and the lead track on the EP 'Sharp Objects' showcases those very well. Backed by a powerful groove the tracks mystical textures, haunting vocal stabs and gaseous atmospheres set the stage perfectly for a twisted metallic lead. Developing mightily over a tension filled main break the luminous hooks soon summon the beats back for what is sure to be an electric dance floor moment.

The lone remix of 'Sharp Objects' is provided by microCastle label artist King Unique who is making his 5th appearance on the much revered Canadian imprint. Formed in 2001 the King Unique production touch has appeared on more than fifty remixes and has yielded some of the biggest dance floor bombs known to man, most notably: Dirty Vegas' "Walk Into The Sun", Underworld's "Two Months Off" and The Killers "Somebody Told Me". It's been another stellar year for King Unique with original productions for Bedrock and microCastle along with a remix for one of 2014's most poignant electronic music creations, 'Candyland' by Guy J. For his 'Sharp Objects' interpretation Matt has masterfully reworked the track into an acid fueled epic. Rough beats, gritty textures and liquid-like 303s all combine for what results in one of this year's most timeless dance floor weapons.

The second selection 'Caona' showcases a more tech house inspired side of Brian's studio arsenal. A foundation of rippling bass tones and detailed analog rhythms combine with dusty harmonies, treated pianos and vintage instrumentation for a truly unique creation.

The third selection on the EP and also its title and showcase piece 'Jukebox' is next and finds Brian veering into deep house territory. The US producers rich bassy textures and aquatic design have created a wonderful sonic fusion here. The records warm momentum is met with an alluring three chord lead which becomes increasing poignant as the track reaches its tasteful peak.

Remixing 'Jukebox' and closing the release out is Tom Middleton who is making his first appearance on microCastle. The UK born but now Italy based producer has been responsible for some of electronic music's biggest records over the least two decades. Written under Tom's much loved Cosmos alias, 'Take Me With You' is perhaps the most notable but an impressive remix discography that includes Orbital 'Halcyon', Kylie Minogue 'Chocolate', Underworld 'Jumbo', Jamiroquai 'You Give Me Something' and Kerri Chandler 'Bar A Thym' have all stood the test of time incredibly well. Tom's remix productions are always met with immense dance floor success and his unmistakable club grooves have melded well with the 'Jukebox' theme. Highlighted by a blissful main break and tasteful re-entry Tom's main mix is sure to be a delight with both house and progressive DJs. The deep dub finds Tom moving closer to his famed 'Liquitech' territory with smooth hypnotic rhythms and vibrant lead stabs heading the charge.

The 40th release on microCastle welcomes Jamie Stevens back to the label for a new EP. The Australian producer is making his fifth appearance on the Canadian imprint which follows his critically acclaimed 'The Wonder of You' EP from 2013. Jamie has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his career. As one of his country’s most talented and sought after music producers he has proven his skill in professional sound design, music scores for film and contemporary electronic music. As the founding member of Infusion, the much-loved Australian live act, he’s left his mark around the globe, headlining some of the biggest and most respected clubs including; Fabric- London, Pacha – Buenos Aires, Womb- Tokyo and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde and Creamfields in Moscow, Brazil, UK and Argentina. In his home country, Infusion has received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work. More recently Jamie’s solo discography has been highlighted with a contribution to John Digweed and Nick Muir’s ‘Versus’ album (released courtesy of Bedrock) along with the aforementioned ‘The Wonder of You’, reaching #1 positions on Beatport in Tech House and Electronica and now regarded as Jamie's career best piece of music. Standout remixes for King Unique and Robert Babicz were showcased in the the first half of 2015 and now microCastle is pleased to present Jamie's long awaited EP entitled 'The Healing' alongside a remix from label artist Guy J.

The release begins with 'My Tears Don't Help Me' which finds Jamie crafting a deep and emotive number in his own inimitable style. Anchored by subterranean beats and a low slung groove it's an immediately compelling piece of music, compounded by vocal motifs and orchestral designs. It's a deeply moving vibe and one which comes from a real life place. In Jamie's own words "After a succession of very trying months this past year, the vocal sample I came across when making this track spoke to me sincerely. It was the perfect fit for the music I had created from the same headspace."

The lone interpretation of 'My Tears Don't Help Me' is provided by Guy J who is making his fourth appearance on microCastle. The Israeli born Malta based producer is fresh off several triumphs in 2014. Guy's 'Once In A Blue Moon' EP, released courtesy of Bedrock Records was one of the year's most critically acclaimed releases. Reaching #1 in the Beatport Top 100, its sophisticated melodies touched the hearts and minds of music lovers around the globe; it proved once again that there is simply no one better at crafting soulful sounds. Guy also readily accepted the challenge of updating one of electronic music's seminal ambient compositions, Barry Jamieson's 'Stars', released courtesy of microCastle. A daunting task and one which he pulled off with resounding success. As the collective electronic music underground anxiously awaits Guy's newest studio creation microCastle is pleased to present just his second production of 2015. For his 'My Tears Don't Help Me' interpretation Guy has put his own magical touch on the production and reinvented it for a peak time dance floor. It's tough, driving beats and big, commanding drums bring an energetic presence while a storyboard of indistinct motifs tastefully lift the emotion higher. The young  Israeli artist has been touted as one of his country's foremost electronic music talents. Undoubtedly a future global star, the long-time favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur  has risen to his greatest heights in 2015, with a recent release on Lost & Found Records, preceded by similarly excellent material for Sudbeat Music and Parquet Recordings. Now closing the year out on a high note, Khen makes his long awaited debut on microCastle with the 'Pollen Spreader' EP, alongside a remix from the always excellent Luca Bacchetti. 

The EPs third selection and also its title cut 'Pollen Spreader' finds Khen exploring the more subversive, electronica realm of his studio repertoire. The classically styled analog production flows through a myriad of indistinct motifs and subtle musical themes, eventually converging for several poignant moments. For Khen it was a track constructed to begin a long set with, as he describes "The first thing that went through my mind with 'Pollen Spreader' was that it was set out to be a track to start a long main set with. I focused on 808 samples for a steady groove combined with Hammond chords, Rhodes and analogue synthesizers resulting in a timeless feel."

The Italian artist and Endless label boss now calls Barcelona, Spain home. His diverse musical tastes have shaped his storied career, and filled his discography with immaculate creations on All Day I Dream, Crosstown Rebels, Ovum Recordings and his own Endless imprint. Luca carries inspiration from art, architecture and his world travels, all of which contribute to his ever evolving, border-less approach to production. His elegant craftsmanship has been touching the hearts and minds of electronic music lovers for years and he's turned in a splendid rendition of 'Pollen Spreader' here. While retaining the tough, analog appeal of the original Luca has created his own unforgettable designs, which come to life following a stylized first act of jangly hooks. After stripping down, the piece flows through a tension filled section of dynamic beats and new found vocal elements, before the poignant theme is unleashed for a heavenly finale. As Luca says " When I do a remix I need to get inspired and I need to find the right elements to develop my own vision, it’s a state of mind, a place which I can’t explain beyond a certain point otherwise I empty it of its content and meaning… With these 9 minutes, I hope to bring you there! Label artist Khen has done a special 'Bronzed Re-Edit' of his classic 'Sunflakes' track. As a thank you for the great support we received on his 'Pollen Spreader EP' we're offering this as a Free Download. The Original version proved to be one of the biggest tracks of the summer season, earning regular play from Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur. Eventually released in mid November, the track enjoyed immense success, reaching #13 in Beatport's Progressive House tracks chart (almost unheard of for an underground record). Now five weeks later it still sits in the top 50 and Khen has given it new life with his aptly coined 'Bronzed Re-Edit'. With an indistinct take on the melodies  and new found atmospheric focus, the much loved Israeli artist has crafted another exquisite dance floor gem. It's unique combination of warm ambience and rugged grooves produce a tranquil yet raw beauty. Sahar Z is now approaching 20 years as one of the country's most recognized artists. Part owner and resident at Tel Aviv's famed 'The Cat & Dog' club, Sahar continually plays alongside some of the world's best talent such as Sasha, John Digweed, Dubfire, Mathew Jonson and Patrice Baumel. While his productions for Bedrock, Lost & Found, Suara and Sudbeat continue to make him one of the most unique and cutting edge artists in the underground. 

Similarly Chicola began his journey into electronic music in the mid-nineties, at Tel Aviv's renowned 'Allenby 58, DJing alongside Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Danny Tenaglia and countless other top international talents. Recent studio work for Lost & Found, Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, along with one hugely in demand and unreleased piece 'Childhood', has propelled Chicola into one of electronic music's most intriguing artists. 

The studio synergy between Chicola and Sahar is constant and while an abundance of material is locked away (primarily for live gigs), it's only on rare occasions that you see a collaborative release from the duo. Previous EP's for Guy J's Lost & Found Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music are all that sits in the duos collective discography. Now as 2016 begins we see a long awaited third project, their debut EP for microCastle entitled 'It Happened One Night'. 

The EP's second selection 'The Stage' finds Chicola and Sahar crafting the ultimate techno jam. It's a journey that plays out over fourteen glorious minutes, anchored by a smooth, momentous groove, it effortlessly flows through a myriad of subtle motifs and cosmic effects. A continually evolving adventure with a techno state of mind, as described by Chicola and Sahar, "This one was a winter session that resulted in a soulful moment. A time when we turned off our minds and opened up our hearts. An analog moment for us, circular sounds with warm melodies.  It's our 909 meets 303 approach and an endless jam session for the future."

In the words of Chicola and Sahar, "One hot summer night we sat down and started to do our thing with Mr Prophet 12. We took this chord and gave it our treatment, it's a track full of madness, solid grooves & hypnotic soundscapes. There's something very sweet in this sound but locked away underneath it all there's something very dark & nasty as well. A unique track and perfect to bring the EP all together."

Like much of the music coming from the core of Tel Aviv's electronic culture, the lead track here 'It Is What It Is' has been the subject of much mystery. After appearing in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur all throughout the Fall season it's been one of the most talked about, and sought after tracks in the underground. It's tough grooves and techno minded sensibilities are geared directly towards a large room or festival environment. Perhaps not a typical production for Chicola and Sahar, who are generally thought of as purveyors of deeper more emotional music, but here the duo have created the ultimate peak time record, culminating in a rush of delayed snares for an all out sensory assault and ultimate dance floor moment. In the words of Chicola and Sahar "Techno snares meets Moog.  We made this groove and the original version was 18 minutes long, then we started to play around with the snares, and a cafe break brought the idea of those endless delays of snares. The arp on top is pure Moog with all its love. A simple, clean record and a dance floor killer."

Partial Press Release: The 43rd release on microCastle welcomes Brian Cid back to the label for a brand new EP. The NYC based artist has enjoyed much success since his label debut in December of 2014. An EP on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound and a mini LP on Guy J's Lost & Found Records top his 2015 highlights, while 2016 holds even greater promise with a new project for Cityfox on the horizon. Over the last 12 months Brian's sound has taken on a life of its own, increasingly organic and deeply emotional, the US artist has further stretched his sonic boundaries, with luminaries such as Adriatique, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Joris Voorn, Richie Hawtin and Thugfucker now play listing his music. His return to microCastle has been much anticipated and a quiet start to 2016 has only made his rapidly expanding fan base even hungrier for new material. The EP's second selection 'Plastic Memoir' finds Brian crafting what might be the most heartfelt composition of his career. It's ten magnificent minutes is highlighted by subtle emotive shifts, minimalistic yet powerful grooves and a melody that will resonant in your heart long after the night is over, as Brian describes "Plastic Memoir was written to be a long musical journey. Something magical happened when I played these melodies on the keys. I must've hit some notes that took me back to a memory that never really existed, but made me feel vulnerable in a beautiful way. That's where the title 'Plastic Memoir' comes from. A memory that really wasn't there - or was it? maybe from my past life? who knows. I kept it musically minimal and focused on the melodies which grow strong and then weaken throughout this magical trip."

Partial Press Release: The 43rd release on microCastle welcomes Brian Cid back to the label for a brand new EP. The NYC based artist has enjoyed much success since his label debut in December of 2014. An EP on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound and a mini LP on Guy J's Lost & Found Records top his 2015 highlights, while 2016 holds even greater promise with a new project for Cityfox on the horizon. Over the last 12 months Brian's sound has taken on a life of its own, increasingly organic and deeply emotional, the US artist has further stretched his sonic boundaries, with luminaries such as Adriatique, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Joris Voorn, Richie Hawtin and Thugfucker now play listing his music. His return to microCastle has been much anticipated and a quiet start to 2016 has only made his rapidly expanding fan base even hungrier for new material. Brian now presents his second EP for the Canadian imprint entitled 'Belles Du Shaman' alongside a remix from Eagles & Butterflies.

The release concludes with the appropriately titled 'Eternal Sunrise'. A groovy, percussive journey with haunting motifs and sultry rhythms. With a deeper emotion and sense of reflection it rounds the EP out with an uplifting moment, as Brian states "Eternal Sunrise is the brightest record of all, although it holds a deep tone to it. The early morning hours of the desert inspired me. Moments of joy delivered by the rays of light. A bright new day that takes you into the unknown. Loopy percussive rhythms and melodies that suck you right in. This track is the perfect sonic interpretation of that moment in time and soul."

The lone interpretation of 'Belles Du Shaman' is provided by Eagles & Butterflies who is making his first appearance on microCastle. Currently based in Los Angeles Chris Barratt aka Eagles & Butterflies has quickly become one of the underground's most inspiring talents. With a contemporary flair and fresh approach to production, the Dixon and John Digweed favourite has not surprisingly found a home on both Innervisions and Bedrock, along with Get Physical and his own Spread Your Wings imprint. 2016 has already been met with several highlights including EPs on Bedrock and Exit Strategy along with a remix of Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi. For his 'Belles Du Shaman' interpretation Chris has stripped the track down and reinvented the elements over a punchy groove, carrying the main themes on a more subversive journey. A wonderfully warped third act, complete with dynamic fills and a twisty emotive lead, ultimately seals the tracks brilliance, making it one of Eagles & Butterflies most sought after remixes this year.

The release begins with the title track and finds Brian carving out one of his most distinctive grooves to date. Layered beats and mystical pads set the piece in motion before an underbelly of warm bass swells fully initiates the journey. Highlighted by soulful vocal stabs the first act strikes an emotive chord, foreshadowing a break of warm harmonies and cinematic tones, ultimately leading to a third act of timely drops and heart-warming rushes. It's one of Brian's most unique creations and not surprisingly it comes from a special place, as he describes "Belles Du Shaman is a musical story of pain & struggle as well as hope & light. The hard drums and synths set the tone for this deep, pulsating and melancholic EP, that drowns in a sea of sounds, touching every weak corner of my heart. When I wrote this track I had just visited the mountains of Utah, more than 10,000 feet up. In a night of music and stars I was moved by how powerful and meaningful a space in time can be. A land that provides us with water, food, shelter... it gives us life as well as meaning. Imagine losing this. How it can impact our life and culture as well as our history and being. The end result of all these feelings and realizations came out in this track."
