Today my day started with what I can only call a melancholic passion‑piece.
Not every day is a lucky day, and not every note lands where you hoped it would.
Yet somewhere in the quiet between two breaths, a melody rose — fragile, persistent,
as if it refused to let the morning slip into grey without at least trying to speak.
This piece is born from that moment.
From the weight of what cannot be changed,
and the fire of what still insists on living.
It moves the way memory moves: slow at first, then suddenly sharp,
carrying both the ache and the beauty of things that matter.
If you listen closely, you may hear a door opening —
not to escape, but to feel.
To let the day begin exactly as it is: imperfect, honest,
and somehow still full of quiet passion.

Vandaag begon mijn dag met wat ik alleen maar een melancholisch passiestuk kan noemen.
Niet elke dag is een geluksdag, en niet elke noot valt precies waar je had gehoopt.
Toch steeg er ergens, in de stilte tussen twee ademhalingen, een melodie op — breekbaar, vasthoudend,
alsof ze weigerde de ochtend in het grijs te laten verdwijnen zonder ten minste iets te zeggen.
Dit stuk is uit dat moment geboren.
Uit het gewicht van wat niet meer te veranderen valt,
en het vuur van wat nog altijd wil leven.
Het beweegt zoals herinneringen bewegen: eerst langzaam, dan plotseling scherp,
en het draagt zowel de pijn als de schoonheid van wat ertoe doet.
Wie goed luistert, hoort misschien een deur die opengaat —
niet om te ontsnappen, maar om te voelen.
Om de dag te laten beginnen zoals hij is: onvolmaakt, eerlijk,
en toch vol stille passie.

Niko Kotoulas started playing piano at the age of two and has never stopped. Within a few years of publically releasing music, the Greek-American and New York-based pianist, producer and educator has quietly generated over 50 million streams with support from The Chainsmokers, Lauv, Swedish House Mafia and countless artists. His music has been played on TV channels including NBC and ESPN. Niko also runs PianoForProducers.com, an e-learning platform teaching music producers piano fundamentals.

Inspired by everyone from Beethoven to Avicii, Niko has played through and studied over 5,000 songs in his lifetime. While attending Johns Hopkins University, he suffered a season-ending injury in basketball, which gave him free time to create piano arrangements and start his YouTube channel. After graduating from University, Niko continued to release piano arrangements while working full-time on Wall Street - this is when he started to gain recognition for his music.

Given his streaming success and official placement on Spotify’s “Acoustic Calm” playlist, Niko left his Wall Street job to pursue music full-time. He immersed himself in learning electronic music production and received his first official remix "Leave" for Borgeous and Jordyn Jones seven months after leaving his old career path.

Over the next few years, Niko will be releasing both piano arrangements and electronic dance music, while growing his platform on PianoForProducers.com, helping the music producer community.
