OCCA, who's leading the Japanese techno scene both in name and fact, is recognized as one of the special figures who continues to inspire the current scene not only as a DJ but also as an event organizer with a comprehensive perspective. 

The set he performed to close DAY 2 started with a techno sound that skillfully blended roaring bass, electronic repetitive sounds that made the audience soar, and organically intertwined drums. In the latter half of the set, when the sun emerged, the audience was treated to more ravey and, at times, even sensory numbing house music, a feat only OCCA could mix up with his solid experience of self-expression in a wide variety of venues. The three-hour set is a perfect opportunity to fully enjoy his extensive library of musics.

Efdemin is a DJ, producer, multidisciplinary artist and a certified legend of electronic music. As a resident of Berghain his infamous sets attract a cult-like devotion and his releases on iconic labels like Dial, Curle and Ostgut Ton are equally as revered. He’s remixed superstar artists like Depeche Mode, Tiga and Moby and has even been remixed by the enigmatic maestro Traumprinz.

Here’s the recording of my eclectic DJ set from Friday evening at Monument Festival 2024. Played during a golden sunset on a warm, beautiful Norwegian summer night in early August, the vibe was pure magic. This set blends dubby deep house, rominimal, house, and tech house — a journey through grooves and textures tailored for that perfect transition from day to night.

OCCA hails from the snowy city of Sapporo, located in the northernmost region of Hokkaido, Japan. In addition to inviting renowned DJs like Peter Van Hoesen, DJ Nobu, Haruka, DJ Yazi, and IORI to perform at his Archiv parties at the legendary Sapporo club, Precious Hall, OCCA has established himself as a respected DJ in his own right.

OCCA has played at several notable events, including Future Terror and Gong, which were organized by DJ Nobu, as well as Exit the Labyrinth, Balance by Mindgames, and Dommune×Boiler Room. His performances aim to take the audience on a sonic journey, where he expertly blends existing techno tracks to craft new sounds and create futuristic techno-style elements.

Six years since their debut release, Cologne-based record label Minimood prepare to unveil their next extended player from French producer MMYYLO...Standout track ‘Call Of The Pawns’ is a chugged-out procession clocking in at 120 BPM where spectral arpeggios spiral like flickering apparitions. The percussion snaps with ceremonial intent whilst swirling textures invoke ancient rituals. Amidst the haze, far-out vocal incantations rise like coded transmissions from an occult transmitter lost beneath the floorboards.

I’m trying not to be too concerned about genres/styles, I prefer to be intuitive and in the moment. Sometimes I also mix house, tech house and minimal. I also have a deep love for ambient and down tempo. I always strive to deliver a unique atmosphere every time I get behind the decks. I just love music and love to share my selection to the dance floor ✨
