While finishing up other projects I'm kind of toying with the idea of making Umbra centered around acoustic instruments (or emulations thereof). 

This idea came about by combining a really simple riff with a pretty standard progression and a quartal harmony I tried writing on top of. That quartal harmony is kind of lost in the middle of all the sounds but picked up by the strings (from a Ableton Live Pack). 

I've used a borrowed Fender PM-3 on this one, mic'd with a Sennheiser E906

Marco Lucchi - Ut Ut ( {AN} EeL Versio )

I composed this piece for Chinabot 4th anniversary and performed it at Cafe OTO in London in July 2021. 
This piece was influenced by the recent lockdowns. During the lockdown I gradually felt that the walls of my room were getting thicker and closer to me. Thus I made a wall of overtones that is gradually getting louder and more prominent than the other sounds in the piece. Of course everything was
happening in my mind so other sounds on the electronic part represented what was happening in my mind, either as a conversation or just repetitive thoughts. The live qanun represented me sitting in my room surrounded by these walls trying to fight with these feelings and thoughts in my mind.

Last month (August 2020) I visited the coastal town of Filey in North Yorkshire - one of our favourite holiday locations.
Whilst there I made many hours of field recordings around the town and on the beach.
This is the first finished track that was inspired by those recordings.
