Rubber Spanner is back with the release of his 3rd EP “Drop Like Flies” on Jet Set Trash!

The London based producer decided to pick up his guitar once again and return to his Punk Rock and Metal roots (Drop Like Flies, Overdrive) while keeping his great feel for the melodic and catchy Electro House feel and groove (Madmen, Himalaya) he showcased in his last EP “Shit Happens”.

The opening tracks “Drop Like Flies” and “Overdrive” are the aggressive banging kind of electro-punkstep, combining guitars, vocals, distorted synths and some really clever lyrics too. 2 tracks that will definitely make you move, whether “moving” means jump and bounce like crazy, mosh or dance. 

“Madmen” follows a more melodic but still dirty and full sounding melodic Electro House direction and is the track to sweat to and play in every club and party, whereas “Himalaya” is the one that will stick with you after the first listen. Its great catchy melodies, hooks and atmospheric parts will suck you in and lift you as high as the title suggests. 

Last but not least, the closing track “Satanic Synths From Outer Space” isn’t just a cool track title but also a great track and Rubber Spanner’s approach of what techno should sound like. The great pumping bass line and driving beat will make you go insane and are guaranteed to fill any dance floor on which techno has a rightful place!

Heavygrinder and Laforcah have are also onboard with their remixes on “Drop Like Flies” and have taken the track in a banging Electro House and Electro Punk direction respectively. The remixer line up is completed by Gor FLsh who remixes “Overdrive” and is once again out for blood and Soul Machine with an atmospheric tech-electro-rock rework of “Satanic Synths From Outer Space”. 

Rubber Spanner’s “Drop Like Flies” is out on September 17th and is certainly a release for all tastes!

Seven months ago we debuted the mysterious tribal bass textures of Damn Kids’ Govudoh EP. Now the young Canadian is back for another round of artful percussion and addictive reverb. 

“Worthless” is a soulful, garage-inspired affair with aquatic melodies topped by beautiful vocals from Jahmal Tonge (of The Carps and MSTRKRFT fame). Not to say we’re forgoing the pump factor: the meat of the track is popping subs, cut-up vocal stabs and claps. The original “Worthless” takes out the full vocal and rocks solo in the mid-130s zone, while “Tyledon” goes deep and gangster with a sidewinding bassline, crispy rims and hats and a syrup-slow sample perfect for your forward-thinking bass set.

Nimbus is a dynamic force within the bass music scene. In his nearly 2 decades behind the decks, this man has blessed the bassbins of dance floors in almost all 50 states including annual appearances at WMC in Miami. His genre bending style makes it hard to put him in a box. No two tracks sound alike but he does it all with big bad bass. Having such diversity with a discography numbering near 100 tracks is no small feat.

His debut release in 2009 on the legendary Illeven eleven Records saw him teaming up with Teddy MC and bass music heavyweight DJ Fixx (aka 1/3 of Smookie Illson). The tune received widespread support from the likes of DJ Icey, curtis b, and the stanton warriors. It went on to be nominated for “Track of The Year” at Breakspoll as well as charting in the top 10 on Beatport. What followed was a string of successful releases that further confirmed Nimbus’ pedigree. Teaming up on Official Releases with heavy-hitters such as Curtis B, Heavygrinder, Dj Fixx, and Burufunk. not to mention raining down 70+ bootleg remixes to those quick enough to catch a copy.
