The Rebel Set have a vintage crash and snarl blended into their music that is capable of causing a full blown case of “Rockin’ Pneumonia.” Front man Joe Zimmerman’s sound has warmth reminiscent of guitar heroes from the 1950’s like Link Wray and Gene Vincent at the peak of their thunder inducing years. The songs are pressure packed with the energy of 1960’s garage bands like The Sonics and The Monks. Much like the way punk bands in the late 1970’s did, The Rebel Set takes the influences of rock n’ roll yesteryears and injects high octane rocket fuel that explodes their songs into the stratosphere. The Clash did it, The Ramones did it and now The Rebel Set have done it once again. The Rebel Set also encompass a darkness and air of mystique that looms in their music. Not darkness in the Biblical sense, but the kind you feel when watching an old film noir.
Influenced by his father’s stacks of rock n’ roll wax (good thing some kids pay attention to their parents’ music) and the lo-fi garage rock craze of the 1990’s, Arizona native, Joe Zimmerman, decided to put together a band that encompasses the sounds and influences he’d been absorbing his entire life. Thus in 2007, The Rebel Set was born. The band has had some lineup changes since their conception, but currently enlists the talents of Joe on vocals and guitars, Jeff Doing on drums, Katey Trowbridge on organ, and Brandon Goehner on bass.
There is no shortage of fans, DJs, and press professing their enthusiasm for The Rebel Set’s music. WRUV Radio out of Burlington, VT said, “These guys should be proud for creating something new and awesome out of something old and awesome.“ Mark Anderson of YabYum Music describes the Rebel Set’s music as “Dick Dale in a blender with The Ramones.”
While touring the club circuit and performing at various festivals in the southwestern United States, the band has shared the stage with a number of other indie and underground elite including Warm Soda, Shannon and The Clams, and The Growlers.
The Rebel Set have a number of records under their belt. In 2008 they released their debut 7” Teenage Killer. In 2010 the band released their first LP titled Poison Arrow to much critical acclaim, and in 2011 they unleashed the Nightmare 7” onto the world. Plus the band has lent a number of tracks to various compilations. In 2014, they will release a new long player, titled How To Make A Monster! on their own Silver Hornet Records and the famed taste-maker Burger Records. This release is the first to include the two newest Rebels, Katey on the keys and Brandon on the bass, brining a more robust sound to the music.
The Rebel Set’s music is a teenage rumble in the late night hours, a drag race that crosses the double yellow lines, a wild ride you don’t want to miss.

	Two Techno treasures await your discovery. Lock in the co-ordinates: 69'r:187'm:95 South a.k.a Calgary. Just fuckin' giv'r Bud. Like the Dinosaurs before them, we've unearthed a couple of immaculately preserved samples from Wax Romeo.  Oh Berghain where art thou? 'More Than Nothing' instantly caught our attention with its space-witch mumblings, jumpy percussion and acid baseline; it's unlike any specimen we've yet discovered. The 2nd finding is an altered version from Los Angelino Pilo (Boys Noize/Turbo Records). It shows a producer of young age with highly developed skill, but an obvious infliction of insanity. The sounds are undoubtably unclassifiable at this point, but if you asked our super accurate archaeological dude opinions we'd have to say 'Pterodactyls trapped in a warehouse cave'. We can dig it.
	
	This bio is straight jacked from our friend Jubilee's Thump article on Calgary, home of the legend. “Wax Romeo is not only a totally Sikh house and disco DJ, but he’s somewhat of a party legend. His name means “light of the sages,” which is pretty appropriate given the kind of profound wisdom we’ve seen him come out with whilst in party mode. Everyone loves his moody music and has a different funny story about him, like the time he was got lost after DJing and we found him asleep in the broom closet.”
