There's a lot of talk of people losing their jobs at the moment and the beginning of the year is traditionally a time when people start looking for new employment.
There's also a cost of living crisis and to be out of work right now is genuinely unnerving.

The Fades sing about the struggle with this predicament and the subsequent dilemmas it brings on new song 'Lost My Job', with lead singer Dave lamenting about all the gear he's had to sell on Ebay to help ends meet.

All set to a post-punk rock groove that opens out into a monster chorus.

This new double A single is released with the track 'Time is Right' - a raucous in your face garage rock singalong chant that tries to smash away those January blues for the New Year.

Christmas Time is Here Again! Rejoice!

This catchy Christmas track has all the elements of a truly British Christmas - the Radio Times, Pantomime, mulled wine, and mince pies.
Drinking and having fun with friends over the festive period.

It sounds like it could have come straight out of the glory days of classic British Christmas pop songs and sits happily alongside Slade, Wizzard and Shakin' Stevens or any of the Christmas favourites that are on heavy rotation around Christmas time.

Who is NiNi Bong?

Two kids, Jon and David, find themselves at primary school together in the 1980's. Nervous and excited for their first day. Eyeing each other from across the classroom - they notice that they both have a Transformers lunchbox. One of the rock-hard plastic ones with accompanying Transformers flask.

Immediately they bond.

Upon opening their lunchboxes, they discover that inside they have hidden their favourite Transformers toy. One has Jazz and the other has Mirage. "Bah Weep Graaaagnah Wheep Ni Ni Bong..." The Transformers universal greeting of peace and good will. They smile and they are friends for life.....

After spending many years together writing and performing in different bands and collaborating on numerous TV and film soundtracks - the two friends met Pat, Julia and Gabrielle who shared a similar outlook and joined them in trying to bring that universal greeting to all with musical project NiNi Bong. Coming full circle to acknowledge that lifelong friendship and bonding over classic 1980s pop culture.

Small Again

We’ve all been there at times… losing faith in life, questioning who to turn to for solace and meaning – and this time it’s lead singer and guitarist Dave Lightfoot of South London garage rockers The Fades. Having heard a rumour that Keanu Reeves was filming around the corner from their rehearsal studios just after experiencing a midlife breakup, Dave’s imagination was set alight thinking: imagine bumping into Keanu on the street, hanging out and going back to the studio with him for a jam together – then an amazing lifelong relationship can begin, but before that there’s a song to write and here it is…

Looking for Keanu is a 90’s inspired slice of slacker indie rock that features The Fades at their most reflective and self-effacing.

The naked honesty in the verse lyric is plain to see but even in the darkest moments there’s always hope to guide us through to better times and then comes the chorus: it’s powerful, catchy and you can’t help but be lifted up by its energy. There’s the video too, jam packed with ‘Easter eggs’ from Keanu’s various films, all shot around the area where Keanu was filming in South London when Dave came up with the song.

The Fades team up with Keith TOTP in tribute to wireless

Best known for their witty and frenetic brand of Garage-Punk, The Fades are back with a special release featuring the much lauded Keith Top of the Pops.

Harking back to the golden days of the 80s and 90s when Rock ruled the world and gas was cheap, the song is an invitation to pull on those old worn-out jeans and think about the first girl/boy you ever fell in love with.

"We grew up listening to The Boss, The Heartbreakers, Cars... you know, classic rock. There's nothing better than blaring Nils Lofgrens 'Keith Don't go' out of the car going through Putney." Says big-haired ax-wielding Jonny Fade.
"It's great working with Keith, his philosophies and unique approach to rock really brings out the best. Jonny and I played on his last two brilliant albums and he played a big part in making our album Ragnarok happen. We thought 'Hey! Let's properly do a tune together, you and us.' Recounts singer Dave.

Sure to be the greatest late night American driving song released this year, 'Heard it on the Radio' will be released August 5th 2013 through Genepool Records.
