The Fades - Small Again (Bark Like A Dog Records)

The Fades release brand new single ‘Small Again’ on Sept 8th 2023.

We all get a little misty eyed at the thought of our past, remembering good times and bad. Times that leave an indelible mark on our being.

Music is one of the most effective ways to bring back these memories, flooding your thoughts like it was yesterday. One bar of a song and the nostalgia for times gone by hits you right in the feels.

Frontman of the Fades; Dave sings about the fact that as he’s got older there are now so many more memories associated with so many songs.

“I’m thinking of all the songs that make me cry, and how as the years go by, there are so many more of them….”

‘Small Again’ is a 3-minute indie pop/rock blast of nostalgia for times gone by.
Reminiscent of Ash, Blink-182, Idlewild and Hope of the States.

Last single ‘Off the Record’ blew up on streaming and radio, with BBC 6Music, Amazing Radio and Radio X picking it up along with loads of music blogs, curators and sites.

'Jazzy Ditty' (https://soundcloud.com/user-432503709/jazzy-ditty-new-med?in=user-432503709/sets/album-the-goods) is one of my earliest and favourite jazz tracks, which I keep revisiting and trying different things with. In this slowed down version, the opening and closing piano parts are the main chorus theme, and in the middle I tried throwing in another older track - 'Belle Curves Blues'.

I'd love to eventually expand the main theme into a longer piece, and one day have this played live by jazz musicians.

Today, the 22 August, is the saddest of anniversaries.  On this day, two years ago, I lost my dear brother Brian.  This is a bedroom recording of a song written by him over 40 years ago and one I'd never intended to post at all.  However, I thought today might be a good opportunity to give it a bit of an airing.  This is the only copy still in existence, so please forgive the poor recording quality.  Hope you enjoy it.
