Solid Steel (30th August) Coldcut presents 2 Hours of Sanity Pt. 1 Love - This is Part 1 in a new Coldcut series of mixes.

The mind map lists the bases we want to cover, and some part of the links between our lifelong music experience and the electronic scene of today.  It's partly about playing with the interface between DJ mixes of other peoples tunes, and producer/studio mixes creating original tunes. Using micro slicing and multi threading of material, with an ear for the magic moment of harmonic mix beauty and eye for mix aptness. 
The project is also about celebrating the history of musical experimentation, featuring innovators ancient to the future. Using spoken word from Sun Ra's Arkestra as a leitmotif, it's a tribute from Coldcut to some of the artists we feel have both moved us and changed the game.
You can catch Matt Black from Coldcut celebrating 25 years of Solid Steel alongside DJ Cheeba at We Love in Ibiza on 1st September.

In Hour 2 we welcome back Mr Tea for another mix. Having spent the last few years supplying The Broadest Beats to the pacific island of New Caledonia, where he played alongside DK earlier this year, he returns to his native France. Solid Steel in association with Serato (1st May) We continue celebrating the relaunch of the Solid Steel website http://www.solidsteel.net  with the return of Four Tet and an exclusive mix alongside Anthony Naples for a TEXT Records special. Four Tet first appeared on Solid Steel back in 2001 and you can now hear this mix in the Featured section on the website, along with another mix from 2002 (which also featured Bonobo, DJ Food and DK as part of the Solid Steel Tour retrospective.) We also feature a 2001 mix from Koushik, who was the first artist to release an EP on Text Records.

Four Tet is up first digging deep with a vinyl only selection and as with one of his previous shows, there's no track list, but you can see a photo of the the album covers for every record in the background image to his mix at http://www.solidsteel.net
He had this to say about his mix;

"My latest Solid Steel mix uses music from all over the world but most of it chosen because it sounds like it comes from another world. These are all older records and things I have been listening to recently and have discovered on my endless search for music."

Solid Steel (22nd February) DK starts with a few current gems leading with the huge Romare track 'Your love', new music from Ty and the stunning single from James Blake, plus Machinedrum remixing Guilty Simpson and a classic Donald Byrd production for The Blackbyrds.
Then we welcome Joe Acheson (aka Hidden Orchestra) with his latest mix celebrating the release of the single 'Fourth Wall' from the  'Archipelago' album on Tru Thoughts. Like previous mixes it features all the variety of music that Joe has been listening to in the last year or so, much of which he has added to, mashed up or remixed, with lots of spoken word and field recordings. One of the themes is sleep, or the lack of it - and there's a strong theme of imagined live collaborations - Kelpe with Thom Yorke, Ivor Cutler and Johnny Cash trading verses over Jan Johansson's piano with added beats, Four Tet and Neil Cowley, Steve Reich with vocals from John Lennon and Finsta Bundy…

Solid Steel (26th April) After last week's frantic session, it's a more laid back affair all round as we welcome Mixmaster Morris in Hour 1 for our 25th Anniversary slot. His history with Solid Steel goes back to the early days when he would often sit in for Coldcut on Kiss FM, alongside his own show The Chill Out Zone. He is also responsible for producing arguably one of the best remixes for Coldcut, with the classic Irresistible Force Full Chill Mix of 'Autumn Leaves' and productions on Rising High and Ninja Tune. We open with Robert Glasper, the wonderful Letherette remix for Bibio and tracks from Romare, Cid Rim and Oriol.
