While his cryptic moniker dodges detection by sophisticated search engines, this Chicago-born, Brooklyn-based hardware techno helmer first caught the ears of New York’s underground with his hiss loaded, dazzlingly dissonant, plodding yet pulsating rhythms. A self avowed gear nerd (which explains his day job at Brooklyn modular synth shrine Control), Max Ravitz’s texture tinkering Body Issues cassette (later reissued on Opal Tapes) became one of the most critically lauded debuts of 2013, receiving justified hurrahs for its malleable layers of house haze. This purveyor of groovy ambience followed that up with last year’s melodically skittering Side Piece EP on Ghostly sublabel Spectral Sound. Besides Patricia, Ravitz also collaborates with a number of like minded analog techno producers: with Jahiliyya Fields on the L.I.E.S. affiliated, darkly psychedelic duo Inhalants; with NGLY on the acid tinged Taxes project; and with fellow Opal Tapes labelmate ARP as Masks, dispensing an unremitting stream of shuffling basslines. For his debut festival appearance, Patricia has plotted an outbreak of woozy patterns care of an all hardware live set.

In Hour 2 it's Mamiko Motto,  the founder and driving force of GASS - her record label and collective spanning music, art & technology. The DJ, producer and studio engineer first starting making international waves as a radio host on her own long-running Hepcat Radio and later in the formation of NTS, foreshadowing the current internet radio boom. Her shows and DJ sets are a passionate and relentless championing of new artists and sounds - “an ear for new music that bends the rules” The Fader described it as, while Dazed point to her knack for   “constantly uncovering tucked-away records and underrated artists”. She has released music on Warp Records and Big Dada as Wednesday Nite and put the crucial ‘Amada’ compilation together for All City Records.  In GASS the ideas and passions which always informed the music and sound have merged with the momentum of art and technology shifting up the gears of her naturally forward-leaning vision.

This is no doubt a very memorable episode for Botanik Dreams, introducing Elbee Bad, a musician who was part of the beginning of what we nowadays call house music. Growing up in NY, music took part of Lamont Booker´s life from a very young age, listening and sharing all kinds of music with family and friends, learning percussion and drums, bass and guitars, and working on radio stations, to later become a well respected dj and prolific recording artist in the scene.

Starting his producer career in 1988, he released his first record as L.B. Bad entitled ‘L.B. Says’ on now defunct Bassment Records from New Jersey, followed by several releases on different labels including Nu Groove Records, Red Heat Records, United Sounds of America, and other labels that helped shape the NY house sound. That same year, Lamont started his own LaRhon records, which then was uprooted to Berlin after moving there without having previously planned for it, following insistent invitations from the people of Hard Wax.

For this occasion Elbee tries something new for him, which is selecting his own productions and giving the session a special purpose, containing in his own words: “faint messages of & for the spiritual ones ascension process”. We are thankful for being able to share this mix full of original sound and messages from The Prince.

Imogen is already seen to be shaping the next generation of Electronic music. Originally from Southampton, Imogen moved to London to study music production and then put her own parties on before she was 18 just to be able to play in the clubs. She first created a platform with her radio residency to showcase already legendary and rising talent, since then things have moved pretty fast for her already playing at Berghain and opening The Moat for Dimensions festival.

Now the winter is approaching Imogen has a string of releases in the pipeline; her first release is coming out this month on Sunil Sharpes label ‘Earwiggle’ along side Giant Swan, Delta Funktionen and Autumns. There is also another piece from her on Mumdance’s Shared Meanings VA out later this year.
