This week's Worldwide Family Mixtape comes from a young producer out of Munich, who exploded on to the techno scene back in 2010 with his 'Monday' and 'Premelodic Structures' EPs on Boys Noize Recordings. The man who goes by the name of SCNTST has cemented his reputation as a producer who destroys dancefloors, whilst delighting and surprising his audiences with innovative and unexpected sounds and textures. 

This Mixtape is no different; with SCNTST including influences which shaped the writing of his sophomore album, due for release in early 2015, alongside exclusives both from the forthcoming LP and other hip hop side-projects. Enjoy!

Fans of Clark rejoiced when he announced the release of his self-titled album in September. 

His seventh in total - the first being 'Clarence Park' in 2001 - the Berlin-based producer once again steps out for the Warp Records team with an LP teeming with abrasive textures and brutal beats, yet still leaving space for glowing melodies and harmonious synth calls. 'Winter Linn' rattles hard like a pneumatic drill, while 'The Grit In The Pearl' encapsulates its title perfectly, finding a balance between rugged kicks and shining, eyes-wide-open euphoria.

Solid Steel (17th April)  Our guest in Hour 1 is Austrian producer Roman Rauch. His debut album 'Heliocentric' is out on Klamauk and he serves up a mix starting with a nod to Coldcut and weaving through music from Mtume, The Roots, Kyle Hall, Greg Beato and Glenn Astro on the remix for Roman Rauch. He told us;
"Here's a little mix I've done for Solid Steel going through some new bits and some all time favorites of mine recorded on 2 Technics, 2 cdjs and a Rane mixer.  Feeling very honoured for being asked to record a mix for them, since i spent quite a part of my youth recording their weekly shows to tape. Solid Steel in association with Serato (24th April) This week we launch a brand new Solid Steel website at http://solidsteel.net and we're delighted to welcome back two guests Caribou and Colleen with exclusive new mixes to celebrate. They both appeared in the same show 10 years ago and on the new website you can hear their 2005 mixes in the Featured section, along with Caribou’s mix from 2000 when he was still known as Manitoba. Also released this week will be a mix from Matthew Herbert as Doctor Rockit (1995), Autechre mix (1997) and a Juan Atkins mix and interview from 1988, plus selected shows from the last 27 years and many more to come each week.

In Hour 2, Colleen is celebrating the release of her latest album 'Captain of None' which is out now on Thrill Jockey. It's a special "Thank You Jamaica" mix that is clearly dear to her heart and she tells us a little more about this love affair;

"My love story with Jamaican music is in three parts: first as a child in the late 70s/early 80s, when my parents bought (probably by accident) a tape containing mostly Lee Perry songs from 1976, which we would listen to on long car trips. Then in my mid-20s when I moved to Paris and bought and borrowed dozens of Jamaican reissues from the Paris music libraries – it was the first time I was listening to the music with a musician’s ear, but given my way of making music at that time (sampling from records) I ended up concentrating on other genres which could be of use as more “unrecognizable” sample-fodder. But in late 2012, just as I was recording my fourth album The Weighing of the Heart, I rediscovered the music and this time it hit me really deep – it was like my ears were finally in the right condition to really hear the music in all its amazing inventiveness, and I had also reached a point in my own way of making music where finally I could see how the Jamaican sense of freedom and experimentation could infuse my own music – and from that moment I knew in what direction I would take my next album, which became Captain of None.
This mix contains some of my favourite Jamaican music and showcases its incredible diversity, with everyone (singers, musicians, producers) at the top of their game and displaying real individuality. "

Our series of album-focused podcasts continues with a celebration of Burial's mysterious masterpiece "Untrue.", which turned 10 the day of this talk.

Two heroes of the UK underground dance culture – BBC/Deviation's Benji B & Keysound's Blackdown – sat down with Boiler Room's Gabriel @Szatan to discuss everything that fed into Hyperdub's stone-cold classic. Focus on rave euphoria, FWD>>, night buses, El-B's drum techniques and much more inside.   

As a special treat for the heads, "True Love (VIP)" and the alternate version of "U Hurt Me" are included on this podcast, their first official outing on tape in many years. Have fun hunting those out.
