Solid Steel (20th March) Having released debut album Sleep back in 2013 on Brighton based ‘Wolf Music’ Medlar steps up to the Solid Steel plate with a mix of 100% unreleased & exclusive tracks. He tells us this mix is constructed from 'Some unused tracks and distractions from the last 5 years, excerpts of interviews with some of the artists who've inspired me, and field recordings from some places I've travelled since music became my job.’ The result is an hour (and then some) of sublime, soulful funk and house grooves. Look out for new forthcoming releases on the aforementioned Wolf, as well as a collaborative release on 'Delusions Of Grandeur’, and remixes for Andreya Triana and  the Mr Bongo label.

This Solid Steel mix showcases their unique nature as they plug in, power up, mix and make music live on the fly, exclusively for this mix for the first half. Creating deep dark sounds keeping the listener not knowing where they will go. The second half shows off their production skills with cuts like 'Rise of The Machines' and a much slept on My Panda Shall Fly remix. Master of producing deep electronic house that sounds incredibly organic, Canadian producer @fredeverything has always brought a real sense of musicality to his productions. The kind where if you take the drums away, the track still sounds excellent. And indeed on his mix for us, he’s taken the opportunity to dig through his extensive catalogue and showcase some of his beatless creations as well as his better-known floor-focused concoctions. A former stalwart of 20:20 Vision, his two decades of productions have landed on pretty much every major deep house imprint, including bastions like Freerange, OM Records, Large Music and Sonar Kollektiv. More recently his output has graced Atjazz Record Company, Local Talk and Tsuba, always with the same compelling results.

*How would you describe your sound?*

Definitely always on the deep side of things but without losing track of the dancefloor. I also like to use dub techniques in my music a lot.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*

Lots of different styles of music, mostly from the ‘70s to today, as well as life in general, or simply a night out listening to a good DJ or band.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

I digged deep in my vault to find some exclusives. There are a few unreleased and to-be-released tracks/remixes. I also wanted to showcase the ambient side of my production by adding a few Beatless (Outro) Versions I did in the past.
