This is an amalgam of two mixes I did for Solid Steel at the end of November, 2013. Both were 30 minutes and with a similar downbeat, electronic nature. It's the sort of thing I like to listen to late at night when I'm working on designs or writing. Both appeared on separate shows but were done around the same time so I wanted to present them in one piece like this.

A Little Night Music...

DJ Food & DK with the audio part of their "Now, Look & Listen" video mix, that they perform live on 4 decks and 3 mixers. Check out the <a href="http://www.solidsteel.net">Solid Steel</a> website or the 'Track video' button above, for the full video mix. 
Using Serato's Video-SL plug-in for Scratch Live, they mix, scratch and blend the sound AND vision for each track they play. Months were spent creating videos for each piece of music, either using the original source material or, in most cases sampling footage to create a new video entirely. Described as 'Video Turntablism', it has become a way for Food & DK to visualize their already legendary DJ sets. 
As usual, it's the diverse mix of music that they love and are known for, taking in current faves from Foreign Beggars & Noisia, Joy Orbison and Dorian Concept, but also plenty of classics that have kept dancefloors rocking from TTC, Pendulum, Luke Vibert, Think Tank and Z-Trip. Plus, Grace Jones, Archie Bell and sections from their two highly successful mix CD's that have Rakim rapping alongside the Human League and the Beat battling the drum and bass of Mask, and all in glorious video at the <a href="http://www.solidsteel.net">Solid Steel</a> website.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (26th October) The Herbaliser celebrate the release of their new album 'There were seven' with a mix by Ollie Teeba. It kicks off with Bombay Royale and their take on vintage Indian Cinema classics, then onto the DJ Numark edit of Ernie Hines and into Mr Chop with their own twist. Then it's recent hip hop from Freestyle Professors feat Sadat X, The Legion and Alchemist, a track from The Herbaliser album given an extra dub rinse, two appearances from Large Professor and closing with an Axelrod inspired track from Monophonics. I was recently asked to play a night called Classic Material in London. The idea for the club is to give each month over to a year from Hip Hop's past and only play tracks released during it. I was given 1989 and this set was all done from original vinyl, clicks, jumps and all.
