Blossom Kollektiv returns again with a new vinyl release that showcases the labels organic growth from passionate beginnings to a name that is established in the minds and hearts of many. Label co-founder Jepe has put together a very exceptional release that is sure to warm the hearts of Blossom fans around the world. The EP features one track from Jepe with remixes from Iron Curtis, Patrick Zigon, Joel Alter, and label mate Leo Wölfel. 

The title track “Amaebi” immediately whisks us off to a beautiful land with commanding drums, lush pads and graceful synth stabs. Paired together with moving percussion the piece is carefully crafted for moments on the dance floor that will be the highlight of the night for anyone looking for a deep moment to lose themselves in.

Moving on to Patrick Zigon’s interpretation he presents a more playful version while never losing the core deepness of the original and taking it even deeper. Playing heavily with dubby pads and abstract synths he completely transforms Jepe’s original into something fresh that will work flawlessly in many moments in the night. 

Turning the disk over we reach the B-side remixes. The first remix from Iron Curtis showcases a solid deep house vibe. Keeping the pad from the original but toying with the elements and adding a funky bassline he revamps the original into a different vibe that it’s beautiful and moving all at the same time. 

Continuing on with our deep exploration of “Amaebi” we come to Joel Alter’s interpretation. His version provides a reconstruction of the original with a soft rumbling bassline and subtle acid synth stabs that take the listener to a place they have yet to travel on this musical exploration. 

Finally finishing things off is label mate Leo Wölfel’s solid floor filling version of Jepe’s original. This version is intended to take you straight to the dance floor with its more upbeat approach but without loosing the elements of the original that took you to a magical place to begin with.

You're So Cool

I have been a fan of Tegan and Sara since first hearing 'Walking With A Ghost'. My interest was greater piqued with their album Heartthrob. I sent a message that I loved it to find out they were fans of mine. This led to a remix and a collaboration on a Tears For Fears cover in 2013. The connection was made, and we discussed future collaborations. When working on new songs I had them in mind. I had a loop for 'Bad Ones' and thought they'd be great on it. Tegan and Sara eagerly accepted the challenge to write more, so I sent it over. Practically overnight, they returned with the verse and the chorus, written from scratch over my loop. I spent the next month working on it, turning a demo into a full-fledged song. Working with Tegan and Sara reminds me the best songs are born from an open and free process. Often times, we need to get out of our own way to let the magic happen, and this song is a bold reminder of that.
