Berliners Daniele Di Martino and Solvane join forces at the intersection of Deep and Tech, serving up three weighty cuts of four-to-the-floor heat in their “title” EP.

“Back to” plunges in with a gradually ascending staccato of vibrant synths, laying down the groove bar by bar. In contrast with the light emitting synth array comes a low key bassline, making for a down to earth yet dreamy overall ambiance. Silenced echoes last for a few moments until ‘Reality’ kicks in with subdued groovy bass and faint vocal chops. The two producers aptly use slow paced build ups, creating ever-ascending yet constantly grounded melodies. Stil vor Talent kick-starter Marc Holstege on remix duties delivers a smooth rework of Reality.  A resounding synth lead carves out subtle rhythm variations while metallic percussion adds to the gravity of the piece. 

“Kraxler” touches a different strain of their production spectrum, revealing a composition that is equally introspective as it is dance-inducing. With a minimalist backbone and arpeggiated string arrangements, it suitably rounds off the EP with a mesmerising melody dotted with punchy accents, fit to stir up any dancefloor.

Tone Depth already released a series of great and unique productions in 2018. When he sent this new track as a demo for fryhide originally, HOSH was completely blown away by it and couldn´t wait to play it out. On the plane, on the way to play a very important gig for him, he listened to the track while preparing and all of a sudden it made click and out of nowhere HOSH heard the „I Am Free” vocal from Johannes Brecht & Fetsum in his mind on top of the Tone Depth track. So he edited it right away, it became the highlight of his set and people started asking for it. A perfect match! After exchanging music with Solomun who fell in love with it as well he encouraged to release the „Free” version of the track on Diynamic with the vocal on top.

A chain of circumstances and everyone pulling together made this track possible and led to this very special version. Everyone involved is very emotionally attached to it, just as emotional as the track itself is.

Family NAME regulars Peo Watson and Mainro team up again on the 22nd NAME festival imprint release. Their collaboration has proved in the past to be brilliant, on remixes as original stuff. Here, the guys have cooked what is maybe their most techno work to this day, together as on their respective solo projects. From the rolling groove of Chardon Mary, the pair subtly reveals pressure leads and smothered voice, for a 6 minutes four to the floor trip, that evokes instantly a timeless and classic weapon.

On the remix side, rising talent Lazaros (already heard on Kompakt affiliated label KX, among other), keeps the original tension at his highest with a strong, magnetic and accurate techno interpretation.

Blac, Lille based producer and Family NAME fellow closes the package with a remix gathering deep melodic vibes and seminal Detroit house in one sweet and shiny piece.

After D.Y.A's and Kalyma's collaboration for Solide's eights catalogue number, latter returns solo for the label's latest release, 'Rites EP', a three tracker consisting of two original cuts and a remix. In traditional Kalyma manner and part of his trademark sound the Berlin based producer delivers an excessive drum-influenced EP opener, 'Rites', that signifies its dance floor potential within the first minute and teases with an incisive chord which marks the introduction of the track's coming in subtle key-melody. As the track continues Kalyma sprinkles with accentuated synth-chords that adapt to the overall harmonies and set new auditory stimuli before the track enfolds its full peak-time potential.

Kalyma's second cut, 'Red Man Calypso', comes in an original version and a Whitesquare remix. As the original highlights whizzling and sizzling synth pads that create late summer esthetics over a proper house bassline, Whitesquare's remix approach concentrates on the low frequencies as the Italian producer implements a reduced bassline smoothly supporting the synth-chords which he adapted from the original. Due to the reduction the remix depicts a multi-layered almost paradox atmosphere – buoyant and joyful on the one side, dark and desperate on the other – the listener is torn between but never lost as the beauty and life-affirming vibe prevails.

Dear Listeners, 
It’s been overwhelming how many of you have written and asked for this year’s Fusion set.  One person even counted the weight of the tears he had shed every time he came here, and found the set was not online yet. So why did it take so long? 
 
It was a very intense four hour set at the Palapa, and it was a very intense week before that. To go back and revisit those moments required quite a bit of strength, which I didn’t have until now. Obviously the intensity of revisiting those moments at the Palapa had a lot to do with the death of our dear friend Bas Engels. 
You might think that I'm loco for saying this, but I know Bas was there with us, celebrating life and death, guiding me through the set and even creating some magic, when my computer froze and I had to restart it, while improvising on a drum machine. Normally the recording would be lost then, but this time it was just there as if nothing had happened. Without him you wouldn’t be able to listen to this now. 
I want to thank Bas for the special magic he created on so many occasions.  Also I want to thank Eule and his team for their foresight and faith to pull me slightly out of my comfort zone, and into this perfect Sunday morning setting. And, of course, I also want to thank all of you, because 
music sounds better with you.

Spieglein Spieglein an der Wand, 
wer sind die wahren Narren hier im Land?

Til Eulenspiegel erblickte um das Jahr 1300, in einem kleinen Dorf namens Kneitlingen am Elm, dass Licht der Welt. Um die historisch belegte Person Eulenspiegel ranken sich eine Menge Geschichten und märchenhafte Erzählungen. Er hatte eine Vorliebe für makabere Scherze und Streiche. So nahm er z. B. Bildsprache wörtlich und somit andere auf den Arm. Till spiegelte seinen Mitmenschen ihre Unzulänglichkeiten wieder und machte sich über ihren begrenzten Horizont lustig. Mit seinen Späßen übte er Kritik am Status Quo, rhetorisch versiert und geschickt verpackt, prangerte er gesellschaftliche Missstände an. 

Der heute oft mit Narrenkappe dargestellte Eulenspiegel, vereint Gesellschaftskritik und "zynisch-satanistische Züge" in einer Figur. Er ist ein Symbol für den schmalen Grad zwischen erzieherischer Belehrung und selbstgefälliger Schadenfreude. 
Humoristisch eingebettete Kritik erfordert Geschick und kognitive Befähigung, ist aber auch ein Zeichen für gesellschaftlichen Abschwung. Autoritäre Herrschaft, repressive Machtstrukturen und fehlende Meinungsfreiheit könnten eine Ursache sein.

Eulenspiegel hat für uns ein rundes und stimmiges Set aufgenommen. Der rote Faden schlängelt sich anmutig durch das 99 minütige Machwerk und läutet nun auch akustisch den Sommer ein.

Unser heutiger Gast auf KataHaifisch ist der leidenschaftliche DJ und Produzent BOHO. Dieser in Köln beheimatete Musikschaffende, ist Gründer und CEO des Labels Jannowitz Records und hatte ebenfalls bei der Gründung von Jaw Dropping Records seine fleißigen Finger im Spiel. 

BOHO ist sowohl ein Vertreter als auch Verfechter der Vielfältigkeit und des Facettenreichtums der elektronischen Musik. Jedes Subgenre hat für ihn seinen ganz eigenen Reiz und Charme, dies spiegelt sich auch in seinen Podcasts wieder. Bei Live-Auftritten präferiert BOHO lange Sets, vorzugsweise All Night long Club Nächte, mit ihm an den Decks. Auf seinem Weg als gefragter DJ, hat BOHO schon viele Clubs in Deutschland und im Ausland bespielt. Ob im Sisyphos, der Renate oder im Heinz Gaul der Heimatstadt, die Crowd feiert ihn und seine Musik. Seine musikalischen Werke veröffentlichte er auf Ballroom, Phobos, Time Has Changed Records und vielen weiteren Plattenfirmen. Pangea
Der Name "Pangaea/Pangea" stammt aus dem altgriechischen und setzt sich zusammen aus pan (πᾶν, "alles, ganz, vollständig") und Gaia (Γαῖα, "Mutter Erde, Land").
Vor langer Zeit erzählte man sich Geschichten von einem Kontinent der Kontinente. Bis vor ungefähr 200 Millionen Jahren, so sagten sie, war jegliche Landmasse dieser Erde eins. Doch dann trennte sich diese Einheit, teilte sich auf in viele verschiedene Kontinente, Länder und Regionen. 
Diese Teilung ist eine Metapher für die Entwicklung der Menschheit. Denn die Menschen dieser Erde taten es der Mutter gleich, sie verstreuten sich auf sämtliche Bereiche des Planeten. Es erblühten unzählige Kulturen und Sprachen, die Menschheit trennte sich auf zu einer Vielfalt der Völker.
Doch das ist nicht das Ende der Geschichte, denn auf Abschied nehmen folgt das Wiedersehen. Es ist Zeit wieder zusammenrücken, sich als Kollektiv wiederzuerkennen.
Tarun Jakhodia ist ein ambitionierter Downtempo-Künstler, der von geschmeidigem Deep House, hypnotischen Deep Grooves und soliden Kicks angetrieben wird. In seiner Musik finden sich ebenfalls indische, arabische und viele weitere orientalische Einflüsse. Mit Kosa Records erschuf Kośa sein eigenes Label und im Januar diesen Jahres erschien die erste "Various Artists Compilation" namens Mīmāṃsā.
