I'm a middle aged guy from the Midwest. I have had a love of music my entire life. I was 1st introduced to hip hop when I was a kid and listened to Run DMC rap with Aerosmith on Walk This Way. I was fascinated by the scritchericth sounds the DJ made. 

In my teens I cut my teeth on eighties heavy metal, but there was always The Beastie Boys, 2 Live Crew, NWA and Public Enemy. I got to see Anthrax and PE play together - AMAZING! Then I moved into early industrial music, where I heard many of my favorite artists dropping samples from movies and newscasts over heavy electronic rhythms and guitars. Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Thrill Kill Kult. 

In the nineties I moved to Los Angeles and found West Coast hip hop. Snoop, Dre etc. Fat beats and fat bass keyboards. I also discovered Portishead, Tricky, Massive Attack and other downbeat trip-hop. And in the bins of used cds I found world music- sitars and duduks and throat singing. 

In the new century I came across a new style of DJ in Lovage, HBMS and other collaborations of producer Dan The Automator and Prince Paul with scratch artist Kid Koala. Using old jazz records to scratch KK would create his own aural collages with samples mixed into a new form. 

And then the Pandemic hit in 2020. In my boredom I came across an app that allowed me to sample -and scritcheritch! - in my cell phone! I took to it with such zeal that my partner at the time bought my my first deck, and I was off.  

I am not a "DJ". I do not beat-mix songs at a party. I am a scratch artist, and I create aural collages. Sampling beats from songs I hear, mixing them with poetry recitations or quotes and sounds that I see on the news and in movies I create little samples of the world and times I live in. These little chunks of art can be played on your Bluetooth speakers and move you to dance and shake your hips. Or to slow down, think, and feel.
