DeeJay Spinn



DJ SPINN a.k.a (Travon K. Young) was born and raised in Lynwood, California. His experience as a DJ began as early as 8 years old during the 80’s when Break dancing, Hip Hop music, and DJ’s were prominent on the scene in the East and West coast.  His earliest experience with mixing was on KGFJ and KDAY which were two popular radio stations that catered to the hip hop culture within the inner cities of Los Angeles. Through certain contacts, a mixed demo, and affiliations with established DJ’s he was able to get on a 30 minute segment one day out the week for a month duration on KDAY in the early 80’s.  Spinn is more that than a DJ he’s a “mixologist”, he has a knack for sounds and is influenced by the beats and rhythm in music associated with bars. Spinn’s also spends ample time in the studio learning beat production from host of Producer/Engineers. His passion is displayed on a consistent basis when he is behind the technics 1200’s staying true the culture of Hip Hop. Don’t get it mistaken; with all the new technology in Deejaying sets, Spinn stays true to the turntables.
Spinn’s resume consists of Deejaying and hosting various events, showcases, concerts, and clubs that include, but not limited to.. Ecco Lounge, Hollywood Highlands nightclub, Club 4th & B San Diego, El Rey Theatre, House of Blues Hollywood, Anaheim Grove, Club Cohibas inside “Your Place to Play”, The Heat Ultra Lounge in Anaheim, The Good Hurt Venice Ca., The Cellar lounge, Ultra Shore lounge, Mixed Nuts comedy, Wasabis bar & grill, Kory’s Restaurant, BB Kings nightclub, Lax Hilton, Marriot, The Ritz Carlton, Leonardo’s, and El Torito’s Bar & Grill, and The G-Spot.  
 Being an advocate towards marketing lyrically skilled Indie artist to gain radio/club play Spinn manages a Global record pool at http://thedigitalrecordpool.com/. Spinn is a personal DJ actively hosting shows for Legendary Media Group/ Midnite Entertainment artist Yung Jay and is currently touring with Lazie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Mo Thugs South artist Sloan Bone, which kicked off March 2012.  Always willing to work and make a name for himself, Spinn also received his Bachelors degree in Psychology with a emphasis in Youth Development from UC Berkeley. With utilizing his DeeJay skills and his degree Spinn had a vision to be a entrepreneur and created Positive Entertainment Network INC, a business jumpstarted by DJ SPINN and business partner / Protégé DJ Twist.  Spinn is a veteran House DJ for Urban Soul Radio.Fm , which is a station that highlights Indie artist throughout the world offering a variety of shows with stimulating forums discussing industry, related and relevant world topics.  Urban Soul Radio gives Indie artist the same platform as Labeled artist.  Urban Soul Radio is broadcasted in over 135 countries and brings in 500+ listeners on a nightly average and frequently peaks over 1500 listeners. You can check him out every Wednesday on Urban Soul Radio.fm from 8 to 10pm on the “N Tha Mix” show with partner DJ Twist.  
As a West Coast DJ, Spinn is actively involved in mentoring the youth towards not only developing spinning and mic skills, but understanding the business aspect of contracts, promoters, music artist, and networking.   As a mentor his mission is to spread gained talent to the youth who have aspirations of being a DJ.  He wants to continue to build his youth focused empire within areas of his community and globally.  His purpose is to get kids off the streets and involve them in something constructive to decrease the likelihood of them being incarcerated, gangbanging, or death. Between his love for music and his passion for our youth, Spinn is an unstoppable force. Remember, “Hip Hop Don’t Stop.”
