The Devil’s Index is a concept song inspired by a nightmare I had of an old haunted Victorian house. I am standing on the dilapidated front porch facing a cracked-open front door where I make my way into the house. As I slowly walk from room to room, I discover that each room inhabits a different nightmarish theme. From shape-shifting apparitions to indescribable looking creatures (violently tearing themselves apart), to a room where all my worst memories are being projected onto the walls (being played on repeat). I did not feel any emotions, just observing. All the entities in the house seemed to acknowledge me drifting through, but they just went about their own business. It had a feeling of a scary-haunted house party. I kept walking from room to room until I finally walked out of the house where I started. It was an odd dream, and I did my best to capture that in this track. This song does not have a specific genre or even a point. It just is what it is.
