Grandma's Handbag is a Portal to a Parallel Universe

When Maria and Luis, better known as the Portuguese duo @ohxala, get their magic hands on their musical gear, and their unmistakeable rhythms and grooves hit your ears, you can be quite sure your body will get quickly into motion. The colourful and energetic musical signature the couple has developed throughout the past 7 years, carries their never-ending love for making people dance and smile. Their world music infused electronica emerges from all the impressions they collect on their numerous travels, may it be nature, the people they meet or the new tastes they experience. 
For the live set they made for our podcast series and that we are so happy to share with you today, they envisioned a journey through a landscape of mountains, a float through an immensity of nature. It all starts with a short train ride, away from the city noise. Melodies levitate us right onto an imaginary dance floor where drums, shakers and trippy voices invite us to let ourselves go, be ecstatic and dance into a sunrise with orange and blue skies... 
In this mix they combined their latest tracks and remixes, most of them unreleased but we promise they will be out very soon ;) …

Etui Records has opened the winter camp again and invited friends and fellows to open their boxes of dub and deep techno tracks. To keep your hearts warm when it’s cold outside, we are about to hand you a musical fireplace.

This year´s Etui Winter Camp starts with the romantic moods of Insect O.s “Sands Of Rainbow” and Monomood´s “Paraseelis”. After founding his own Abstract Animal imprint for some proper techno and his “Parameter One” release on Uncanny Valley sublabel Shtum Monomood finally returns to Etui Records.

“Talebs Swans” by Tiefenrausch´s Wenzel Mehnert is a reduced fusion of space tech and dub step followed by a true dub techno piece by Dandytracks aka Daniel Madlung and Mandy Jordan. Matthias Springer takes you to the dark side of the winter with some acidish sounds in his “Dark Orbit” and Frank Hellmond brings in some analogue warmth with his “Lost”.

The best thing you can do when it´s cold outside is dancing to “Stellar Remnants” by Swiss Alessandro Crimi and the old-schoolish techhouse of Insect O.’s “Transatlantik Chords”. Zurich based Idealist toped a funky bassline with sparkling chords for the techno mood in his “Axial”. Finally Sydney´s passionated techno artist Squarepeg rounds up this year’s album with his live jam “Green Dots”.

Etui Winter Camp will be released as digital album incl. 11 tracks and 12” vinyl incl. 4 tracks on February 28th 2014.

"Margaret Dygas’ position as an avant garde techno producer has been achieved with only three proper releases to her name but backed up by years of formidable DJ sets around the world. Born in Poland, she spent her formative teenage years growing up in America and now, like so many other dance music producers, lives in Berlin. Her exquisitely executed tracks have been released on Contexterrior, Non Standard Productions and Perlon, each showing a progression in her abilities and slowly revealing a distinctive type of sound. LWE hoped to learn much more about the budding artist in our interview but it turns out that Miss Dygas prefers to let her music do the majority of her talking. Read on for the words we managed to glean out of her and check the stunning podcast after the interview for a more revealing glimpse into the world of Margaret Dygas."

Today we are happy to welcome our Mexican amigo and amazing artist @jiony to our podcast series! If you didn’t have the chance to listen to him last October in Berlin, you now have the unique occasion to listen to the live set which he designed for his performances in the German capital. 
Jiony’s style is unmistakable, it consists of an elegant blend of vocal samples, jazzy and bluesy elements, which he masterfully combines with a bouncy and dubby bassline. The skilful producer doesn’t miss the chance to include also traditional motifs from his motherland, giving an exotic taste to his great sound. Jiony developed his skills over almost two decades, as he started producing music back in the late ‘90s on Fruity Loops, now known as FL Studio. Few years later he learned DJing on the CD players which his friend had at home. Playing music was fun, but limiting. Jiony wanted to play his own music in his own way, so he started the magical journey into live production in 2013, and that journey is still far from seeing its end. 
When asked about the message he wanted to deliver to his listeners, Jiony replied ‘Chill, shake, and enjoy’, as it is written on the packaging of a Mexican juice. No matter how weird this may sound, but these instructions truly fit the beautiful set which he prepared for us. Chilled but shaky...and definitely enJIONYable!
