She has spent more than twenty years perfecting her intuition, technique and buildiing up a vinyl collection which oscillates between timeless techno and the most select house, making the most of the nuances that exist between said genres and all their sub-genres have to offer. Maybe you remember some of her emblematic vinyl-only ‘All Night Long’ sessions or maybe you saw her perform in London, Berlin, Brussels or during her time in Latin America. She might have made her mark on one of your idyllic summer nights in Ibiza or perhaps you heard her at a festival or an distinguishing club in Barcelona at her ‘Selectors’ night; always in constant evolution, with all possibilities still open for exploration. You may be familiar with her well-respected label, Chapter Records, founded in 2014. You may have even played or listened to one of her releases yourself, or perhaps heard some of her tracks in one of Dave Clarke’s sessions. You might have also already discovered her latest work in the studio, such as her ‘Different Approach’ EP on RSPX (Rekids Special Project) or her latest releases on Symbolism, Ben Sims' label. It is never too late to make new descoveries, those which will never be forgotten. I'm very proud and happy to introduce to you my very first special guest, one of my most favourite producers from all, amazing DJ and talented live act artist, hypnotic techno label owner & manager of the West Rules / @westrulesrecords /, Joaquin Ruiz / @jrtechno / from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Joaquin's typical style combines hypnotic space energy with atmospheric sound. He has been supported by many international artists like Ben Sims, Richie Hawtin, Dax J or Slam and he shared the booth with names like Etapp Kyle, Truncate [Trankejt], Jonass Kopp  Obscure Shape, Pfirter [Firter] and much more.

Besides realeasing his sound on labels like Children of Tomorrow, SYMBOLISM, Subsist Records or his own label, his music was also released and very much supported on Axis Records runned by Jeff Mills. With his beautiful space techno music he also appeared in Jeff's project of Escape Velocity and his music playlists.

JOAQUIN'S ANSWERS ABOUT THE FUTURE

What do you think about the future in techno music? Do you have any ideas, opinions?

“ Regarding the future of techno, I think it is a movement that has been growing a lot. This, on the one hand, brings this music to different countries/cultures and it is the most beautiful part of music. But on the other hand, there is also the part where perhaps they focus more on making an image of a product for profit, without taking into account the quality and work behind it. For example, they hire djs by number of followers, regardless of their career nor the contribution to this culture.

I think that we should not lose the real values of music and I know that there are many artists, promoters and people committed to this genre by passion and love, which motivates me to continue. ”


What are your imaginations and opinions about the future on Earth in general?

“ I think that little by little, us, the human beings, we are becoming more aware of many things regarding the damage we cause to our planet. We should continue to work hard on to protect beings and respect the nature.

Stop exploiting the land without thinking about the damage that is caused to the environment. “

Nørbak is Artur Moreira, born is the late nineties, in the North of Portugal. His devotion into making music begins early in his life, and since then, keeps working in his studio, day after day, discovering and developing his own sound, diving into Ambient, Experimental and mainly Techno. It all started in 2016 with labels such and Circular Limited and Illegal Alien, where he gave his first steps and since then he has been releasing his music on respected labels such as PoleGroup, Warm Up Recordings, Semantica, Modularz, Affin, Float Records and his sound has developed throughout these years focusing now more on the mental and physical side of Techno, where he finds the most comfort. In 2019 he joins the Portuguese independent collective and label Hayes as an active member, where with his label colleagues he’s pushing the new wave of contemporary Techno. With appearances in some respected clubs like Tresor, Lux Fragil, Gare Porto and Family Club he also feels supported by some of the most respected artists in the scene like Oscar Mulero, Jonas Kopp, Svreca, Dasha Rush and more. His future can only be brighter than what it is right now, with so many boundaries to achieve, discover, learn and cross. Enjoy!
