"Belated quarantine edition! In the middle of the long, dark Swedish winter, in a serious craving for dancefloors and summertimes we started a little project. A back to back mix session, recording one transition at a time and then handing it over to the other. As a way to hold on, and hang in there. Continuing this slow process over a couple of months, starting in the darkest winter and finishing in the bright Stockholm summer nights the result is a mixed goody bag of dance friendly music!" ~ Robob.

It's already been a decade since J Dilla — the mercurial producer and rapper from Detroit — passed away and his posthumously completed album, The Shining, saw the light of day on BBE Records. 

As they prepare to release the project on 7" for the first time, we're extremely honoured to get our hands on a never-before-heard mixtape by the master himself. Made some time between mid-1999 and early 2000, it's a fly-on-the-wall showing of what Jay Dee had blaring out of his speakers while on the sofa or by the MPC.

Looking forward to returning home in the scorching summer heat is a typical Australian summer, especially when the skies in Europe stay dark and grey for unnervingly long stretches. In 2019 I got to finally find myself joining this beautiful and welcoming family that is Rainbow and truly experience one of the best sounding stages in the world in person and feast my senses. It was made even more special by the fact that it was the first time in almost a decade I felt at home again in Melbourne again since leaving in 2008. 

This summer, I was fortunate enough to connect with a new beautiful musical family who came over to sample the upper echelons of the European doof season. After an unforgettable time across the Monastery to the Forest Wonderland known as Garbicz,  I hope to come full circle to where it all begin, and reunite with my family in the dust at Rainbow Serpent 2020, except if I got to do that from the DJ booth as well..well, that would rather pleasant.
