Beat Merchants come again with an eclectic four track EP, '423' on Chronic.
 
Since their debut in 2019 the duo have been consistently turning heads, picking up support from the underground and from BBC R1 & 1Xtra tastemakers, Jeremiah Asiamah, DJ Target, Annie Mac & Rene LaVice as well as spins on Kiss, Rinse & Reprazent Radio amongst others. Their hard-to-miss flavour is drizzled on everything they write and this body of work is no exception. Soulful elements and razor sharp production, packed full of influences from their musical lives touching on Reggae, Hip Hop, Soul and beyond.
 
This EP features two cuts aimed squarely at the dancefloor with title track a sublime roller, '432', channelling Bristol vibes, and Dark Oceans a deep, brooding bassline workout. Then to contrast up steps the inimitable Nixxxsta with the West Coast inspired 'Ghetto', the first of a run of BM tracks in with works with this exciting vocalist. The to round off the EP Miss Trouble takes the lead with precision delivery and an effortless flow on 'Knock Em Out', with the West London based singer and rapper continuing her a strong line of D&B collaborations in fine style!

85 mixes later. He returns with another 100% productions mix. We loved the first one but this one BLOWS OUR MINDS!

"I've always had trouble expressing myself. I have a tendency to withdraw and a proclivity for overthinking anxiety. I didn't find alleviation with the typical outlets of therapy or even excessive exercise. While my chosen career of chemistry and drug discovery provides intellectual stimulation, it does nothing to help me express the deep emotions I feel but tend to bury inside. When I discovered music production, it was like a portal was opened from my heart, and my soul could finally peer into the world -- I could paint my story with sound, and I've never looked back. Finally, I had a way to express myself. 

Since discovering my absolute passion for sound-storytelling, I've produced more than 250 tracks across genres ranging from ambient, lounge, and dubstep to my true love, neurofunk. I'm always reflecting on some context in my life while producing, and so the sound of that track takes shape as my experience does. With the 100% production mix "PAIN BEHIND MY EYES" I wanted to re-examine my long journey with sound, boil it down to the tracks that re-instill the emotion that originally inspired them, and establish the direction that my sound as Skorpion will take in the future. The mix features tracks ranging from 60-190 bpm, with the first half focused on my brand of neurofunk, and the second half exploring my deep dub and downtempo alter-ego. 

Thank you so much to Dave for supporting my journey from an early stage, I'm not sure I would have persevered this long without your kindness and encouragement. And finally, a big shout out to all of the artists who I collaborated with or remixed in this mix -- AstroLuce, IT'S TRICKY, DMTR, Sceptre, Emperor, Gifta, Xyde, and Aleyum."
