In the blurb for our new releases, we like to meander down the road less travelled when it comes to our choice of bon mots. We strain every sinew to come up with descriptions that do justice to the aural treats we are celebrating.

However, sometimes you hear a tune, and it just blows yer socks off, rendering you uncharacteristically speechless. All you can muster is over-used, vacuous platitudes like ‘anthem alert’ or ‘absolute banger’ which, funnily enough, brings us to a case in point.

Dave’s new Selador offering ‘Two By Two’ grabs you eagerly by the hand and drags you to the floor from the off, sticks yer head in the nearest speaker stack, and cries “Let’s goooo!!” – and you remain in thrall to its pounding magnificence for nigh on six minutes.

The opening bassline motif is pure jackin’ magic, and when the insanely memorable, and ever so slightly unearthly “two by two, side by side” vocal hook enters the fray, all bets are off. These elements are the foundation stones around which assorted riffage is woven. There are few brews more potent on 2024 peak time dancefloors.

Oh, and for long time fans of Dave’s work, we reckon it’s a bit like Buzzfuzzle meets The Mighty Ming, aided and abetted by a vocal reminiscent of Divine’s classic Native Love. And if that doesn’t whet your appetite enough to press play without delay, heaven knows what will.

As if Dave’s ‘Two By Two’ wasn’t already humungous enough, hot on the heels of the barnstorming original comes the equally magnificent Alican remix.
 
We said the vocal hook brought to mind Divine’s seminal proto-houser ‘Native Love’, and we suspect our guest may have felt the same, as there are definitely traces of the trademark early 80s Bobby O production style in this peak time workout.
 
This sizzling slice of 21st century mesmeric electro-disco further showcases our man from Istanbul’s wide-ranging talents, as displayed not only on his Selador outing ‘Montroze’ las year, but also on recent releases for the likes of Innervisions, Kompakt and Get Physical.
 
Like all the best remixes, it’s the perfect wingman to the Original. Get it down ya!

Nicolas Gonzalez is an electronic music artist, DJ and producer, born in Cordoba, Argentina. 

Nico discovered his passion for music at a very young age. Influenced by family and friends, he found in rock and jazz, the bases that pushed him to write his own journey.

Along the way, his creativity and artistic concepts brought him closer to the DJ and producer Matias Chilano, with whom he went into mixing and production studios, expanding his horizons.
A lover of house, its variants and melodic techno, he creates elegant mixes that, with a marked groove, harmonic and hypnotic atmospheres that adapt freely to different moments and places. 

Nico has been able to share booth with national and international referents artists such as Mariano Mellino, Cid Inc, Dmitry Molosh, Darin Epsilon, Antrim, Mike Griego, John Cosani, Marcelo Vasami, Soundexile, Interaxxis, Lonya, Juan Deminicis, Alejo González, Silicone Soul, Nick Varon, Dj Ogawa, Martín García, Deep Mariano, Lucas Rossi, Fernando Ferreyra, Kintar, among others.

In 2020, he moved to Barcelona to improve his musical production and expand his sound and identity. These days he continues to study and work in pursuit of being able to express himself and connect with people through his art. Leaving an echo through the musical journey.
