Nach einer etwas längeren Pause in unserer Podcastreihe begrüßen wir heute Xia Ke aus Shanghai. Der sympathische Producer, DJ und Labelbetreiber mit dem Hang zu organischen Klängen im deepen Downtempogewand ist uns bereits vor einiger Zeit aufgefallen. Seine Mixe bestechen durch eine große Dichte an Atmosphäre, welche durch überwiegend cineastische Übergänge erzeugt wird. Quasi ein Sound der auch gut zu unserer Reihe passt. Ein wenig angepasst hat er diesen aber trotzdem. aber hört selber und findet den Unterschied. 

Tausend Dand Xia für diese feine Reise ins Dickicht der organischen Afterhour.

After a slightly longer break in our podcast series, we welcome Xia Ke from Shanghai today. We noticed this likeable producer, DJ, and label owner with a penchant for organic sounds in deep downtempo guise some time ago. His mixes captivate with their dense atmosphere, which is created predominantly by cinematic transitions. It's a sound that fits well with our series. He has adapted it a little, though. But listen for yourself and see if you can spot the difference.

✘ What makes good "afterhour"?
Chill, moody, slightly danceable and meditateable. 

✘ Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?
It's a set prepared for our upcoming label tour. I want to illustrate a more moody downtempo soundscape to the Chinese local audiences. There are also some great productions from my label Autumn Equinox.

The old sailor swore the ocean itself had split the night his brother vanished—no storm, no whirlpool, just a single straight seam that opened like a healed scar tearing loose. He called it a crack in the briny sea, a place where the water forgot its own weight and the moon’s reflection slid sideways into nothing. Down that pale fracture the ship’s lantern followed, then the helm, then the man still clutching it, swallowed without a splash, as though the sea had simply changed its mind about holding the world together. Years later, whenever the wind dropped and the surface went glassy, the sailor would lean over the rail and search for that faint silver line, half hoping, half dreading he’d see it again, proof that somewhere beneath the endless salt the sea still kept its secret doorway ajar.

Renaissance (2025) Remastered

Two Anima To Respect is an electro‑ambient piece in F minor, shaped by a nostalgic undertone. Pulsing textures and restrained rhythms carry both longing and rigidity, while shimmering layers evoke desire and memory. The mood is contemplative yet tense, echoing the dialogue of two inner anima, one inviting, one resisting, woven into sound.  

Anima is Jung’s term for the inner feminine aspect of a man’s psyche — a symbol of emotion, intuition, and soul connection.

Five steps (each one with two parts) progressing along 3 minutes thru different styles: rock, psycho, pop, hard..., and finally back to the psychopoppy ones.
