he latest release to drop on the Saved Records imprint is a two track EP titled 'Perception’ from Oxia. A label long established as being at the forefront of underground dance music, Saved Records continues to source talent from across the globe, this time drawing on the French house pioneer for this most recent offering, due out on the 19th May. 

Oxia’s career spans over a decade and has seen releases on a plethora of electronic music’s most notable labels. His early musical influences reflect a large spectrum of music styles including electro-funk, italo-disco, new-wave and early remnants of the Chicago house scene. Fast forward to present, Oxia’s two track EP for Saved shows clearly how he masters the house and techno crossover and demonstrates how after so many years in the game, Oxia is still at the forefront of the international electronic scene, relying on deep melodic grooves as the key element in his production.

Saved Records has wasted no time in building a reputation as leaders in world class house and techno and is now a well respected and hugely admired independent label. Alongside label founder Nic Fanciulli, artists who have released on the label include Joris Voorn, Adam Beyer, The Martinez Brothers, Mark Fanciulli and Rolando amongst many others.

In his early years, Cristoph was influenced by the sounds of his fathers Motown vinyl, paired with his older brothers Chicago and Detroit house cassettes, not a bad combination even if we do say so ourselves. This nurtured a passionate love for music from an early age, with him citing Masters at Work and ‘MK’ as early influences. From North to South and everywhere in between, Cristoph has been causing a storm on the dance music scene. His effervescent, broad ranging style encompasses heavy basslines, uplifting melodies and carefully chosen vocals, spanning the deep house to techno spectrum. 

Having had two No 1’s on Traxsource main chart with “Guffaz” and "Big H", it has been a busy year for Cristoph with bookings in Ibiza and across Europe.

Remixes on this hot package courtesy of Sante, Josh Butler and Snilloc with early support from the likes of Hot Since 82 and Richie Hawtin.

Snilloc takes things a slightly funkier vibe with a grooving baseline, clever staccato synth stabs and a big brass horn making this a dance floor must have. Next up is Josh Butler with a hypnotic heads down groove. Berlin star Santé emerges with quality a deep, dark mix. Showcasing his excellent production skills and a clever percussive groove. Last but certainly not least ViVa Music's new boys System2 come up with an underground floor shaker to round off this wicked package.

Having recently worked with Suara music, Cristoph’s hard work ethic accompanied with his quality production has gained the attention of Radio 1’s Pete Tong, listing him as a “Future Star”.

Cristoph - Shelter (Josh Butler Remix)

This first volume of Halal Prepared comprises of a who's who of boe's past, present and future. The label stalwart KiNK who has recently found form on Mule Electronic and Kolour contributes a fine piece of deep, synth laden house music that has a warm and fuzzy vibe.  The track builds from KiNK's crisp and punchy kicks and claps, helped along by a delicately delayed bell synth slowly opening up into the main chord sequence. The beat drops down to its minimum, a soaring string squeezes in as the pulsing synth pad's filter peaks and the bass kicks in. The track breaks down to include the ethereal vocal talents of Rachel Row whose sounds are limited to soft backings to the overall melody but add an extra layer of warmth to the harmony. The tension is built once more with a cheeky little male vocal for a fitting finale to a track that will have you desperate to seek out a glorious sunrise as a back setting to this uplifting underground gem.

Native New Yorker Son Of Sound aka Henry Maldonado returns to Delusions of Grandeur with another fine EP including two floor friendly originals plus a stripped back remix from Aroop Roy. For those too young to have been buying records in the early 90’s Henry was a key figure, involved in seminal releases on Strictly Rhythm as House 2 House, Maxi Records as Deja Vu and MAW Records as Rhythm Section. To say this guy has history is something of an understatement having made an important contribution to the first wave of deep house with productions dating right back to ’91. More recently he has created magic for Jus Ed’s Underground Quality, Classic, Razor n Tape and Local Talk as well as establishing his own District30 imprint.

We kick off with NY Iz All I Know, a warm, soulful yet pumping slice of what can only be described as proper house music! Looped up vocal chops bounce around a classic disco groove until things breakdown into a new chord progression and saw wave bassline which add an interesting twist to the arrangement. Skin Tight drops next introducing a funk break underneath the solid four on the floor kick. One of Henry’s trademark chord progressions emerges and the elements build up around to form another masterclass in sample heavy house perfection. Aroop Roy steps up for the remix following a run of fine edits and originals on the likes of Freestyle, Basic Fingers and House Of Disco. NY Iz All I Know gets stripped back and pumped up, taking the key elements and adding his own disco inspired groove and Moogy synth business for a floorpleasing gem that we’re sure will help find him new fans from across the house and disco spectrum.

DDSR003 - Alex Agore - Show U Love EP

Adam Shelton & Alex Arnout kindly sent me the parts for me to do my own version of this great track. It's a real treat to be able to work with Tyree Cooper who has been a huge influence on me with his early work. 

The remix came together very quickly and was a lot of fun in the making. Bashing it out in my kitchen and living room, snapping my neck back n forth.  ...  i kept it simple so the legendary Tyree could take center stage ... Beats and bass for the body and the awesome vocal for the head. A winning formula for the clubs ... stripped down to the bare essentials, no fuss ... just aimed directly at the dancefloor. 

It's had alot of support already from a wide range of dj's  ... feedback has been immense.

At the beginning of last year I went to listen and see Isolée during his live act in Lausanne. He started that night with a really amazing tune - something so full of love and harmony, something that is definitely rare at the moment.

One week later that song was still in my mind and so I asked Rajko what it was, to which he answered: "I did a soundtrack for a skateboard movie and the track I started my live set with is a draft of it." I asked him to make me an edit to be played in my set. I’ve been playing "Dennis" for the past year in all my sets around the world and always receive a fantastic reaction from the smiling crowd.

One year later this special song called "Dennis" is ready to be played by you and the world and I'm really proud and excited to start "Xtra Tamed" with such a masterpiece! I asked one of my best friends and one of the most talented producers around, Baïkal (from Maeve and Innervisions), to work on the remix and trust me when I say that this rework has a similarly funny but long story as the original cut! Isolée vs Baikal sounds like a match made in heaven, don't ya think?

Maybe one day I'll release a book about all these genius making-of stories but for now, it’s all about the music and emotions. The mastering was carefully done by Hans at Deinklang. You can also check out the skate video mentioned above here: http://rollenaller.de/#
