My name is Professor Kessy and I will be your 6th-gen HumanMaschine guide and assistant today. If you have any questions, please use your touch-to-touch net augments to ask me a question by placing your fingertip on my palm. If you take a look at our 2nd floor, you could say that it is the brain of this whole arcology complex. Everything is run from the Daily Operations Module in Sector Alpha, which is the entryway on your left. The Daily Operation Managers and HumanMaschine assistants run the whole system, but Professor Clauk and Professor Deathmen have the final say on issues of greater importance such as new technological acquisitions, current and future research schedules, delivery shipments, and security intrusions. They are headquartered at the top of the massive concrete and carbon nano-tube  meeting hall you see in front of you. 

Continuing on this main artery of the 2nd floor will lead us to Sector Bravo, where The Armamentarium hosts an innumerable number of laboratories, engineering bays, test firing ranges, nexus systems, and coffee shops. The research hub is always teeming with meaningful activity in the advancement of the human race. Multiple scientific projects are always in session... oh good morning Professor Cobocil! That was Dr. Cobocil who is just coming out of the research hub. He must have had a long night tinkering with his projects!

Anyways, as I was saying, lots of research in done at The Armamentarium. Our scientists, engineers, designers, architects, and artisans are always hard at work. From The Armamentarium's foundation in the late 2050s to now, we have changed the fabric of society through our persistent and undying need for innovation. From Dubfield point defense systems for mechanized battled walkers to energy conversation optimizations in plasma weaponry, we excel at creating one of the best emotions you will ever have: a sense of pride in your Earthian roots when you hold and use one of technological implements in the cold loneliness of the infinite beyond.

Oh! Look to your right, esteemed guests! Dr. Answar is Coding something right now! Oh... he's gone and blacked out the viewing window. Sorry about that folks! He's Requesting that we go somewhere else because we are distracting him. Let's move on shall we?

Danny Wolfers (most frequently known as Legowelt) is a producer and performer who has worn many hats, all of them styled with finesse. His range is immense but never disparate; through releases for Clone, L.I.E.S., Creme Organization and Peoples Potential Unlimited (among others) Legowelt has spanned everything from frosty techno, sprawling boogie and melodic acid house to chugging electro without sacrificing bonafide quality or pandering to the fad du jour. In his newest effort, a debut EP for Fotomachine’s Technicolour imprint entitled Anaconda Flow, listeners are treated to that dynamism in its very finest form. Uplifting, dreamy synth sequences are incorporated alongside his instantly recognizable gritty floor-fillers for a four-piece package that will both delight the home listener and devastate the dance. His long-demonstrated devotion to hardware is utilized here to extraordinary effect: blips bubble to a murky surface, twinkles cascade from above and a kick drum pulses straight through everything it touches—all in all a darkly immersive little jewel, though who would have expected any less?

Acclaimed techno, dub and atmospheric craftsmen Voices From the Lake, aka Italians Donato Dozzy and Neel, are starting their own new label, Spazio Disponible. 

The label will start with a release from Voices From The Lake in March 2016, then a solo EP from Dozzy in May, but will be about much more than just putting out 12"s: it is a conceptual idea that will see friends of the duo release music, but will also be accompanied by a quarterly party at Goa in Rome. The first one will be March 18th where Donato and Giuseppe will play all night long with a close musical friend. 

More than that, though, the artists playing will be in the studio the whole week running up to the night, jamming and preparing music for the night and potentially producing a record that will later be put out on the label. The setup at Goa will be a hybrid of machines, live gear and DJ equipment that will allow for fluid transitions between each as the party unfolds. Essentially each event will be one big jam that features artists joining in and dipping out at will. Line-ups won't be announced for any of the nights, with the whole thing paying heed of the title, Spazio Disponibile. 

As for the first release, it features three tracks of absorbing and hypnotic deep techno that sucks you deep down into an organic world of super smooth sound. Subtly filled in with pixel thin synths, trance inducing bleeps or spaced out pads, it offers a fine taster of what to expect from Spazio Disponibile both on record and in the club.

This weeks guest mix is from the rapidly rising, Birmingham based, bass and breaks artist Nuvaman. The 21 year old seemingly never sleeps with a constant stream of tunes of the highest quality, guest mixes dropping all over the place and runs his label Circular Jaw on top of all that. 
He’s also got some big gigs coming up. April 16th sees  Nuvaman representing Circular Jaw and teaming up with Listening Sessions, with Keysound’s Blackdown and Parris on the bill. On April 30th he’ll also be playing in Huddersfield as CJAW collaborate with Mutualism. 
In the past he’s been on lineups with Majora, Deadbeat, Yak, Flint, Denham Audio and Wolfe, played at Plastic Sheffield and Brixton Jamm and was also one of the headliners alongside Phrixus at our EatmyHAUSparty event with eatmybeat. 
With 3 releases lined up on Artifice, PRJKTS and LA based TR Records and an EP with vocalist Dakota Sixx forthcoming on The Sound of Everything there’s plenty of music to come from Nuvaman.

Spazio Disponibile is the Italian label run by Voices From the Lake, aka Italians Donato Dozzy and Neel. It finds the pair putting out music made with their Rome party of the same name in mind. Music comes from the founders themselves, as well as guests who record in the studio in the days leading up to the party. After a first release by Voices From The Lake, Dozzy is back with a solo EP offering four cuts to form the That Fab EP.

Next up on Spazio Disponibile is a pair of artists who played the party of the same name at Goa, Rome last year. Their name is Crossing Avenue and their MO is to make experimental techno in a hi fidelity style that is as cerebral as it is physical. Here they do so across four fantastic tracks. 

Crucial is first and is a big, warm open space filled with tiny little flecks of sound, delicate synth flashes and rolling rubber drums that truly hypnotise. Malandra is another bit of burrowing mind music that is hugely atmospheric yet notably sparse and economic in design. The drums roll below as watery droplets, ghostly pads and haunting organic hooks all roam and snake about in the mix. Rimbalzo is darker and more direct, with a supple techno groove forcing you to move as flashes of synth, alien life forms and subterranean ambiance all color in the airwaves. Last of all, No Coasts traps you in another underground cave with only desolate drones and bulbous bass lines for company. It is eerie, but beautifully so, and rounds out another fascinatingly cinematic release.

The 68th edition of the DJ-kicks mix series is another landmark one, with experimental producer Laurel Halo taking the reins. The American’s adventurous 29-track trip features seven exclusives, including two of her own plus those from Rrose, Machinewoman, FIT Siegel, Nick León and Ikonika.

An electronic outlier, Halo hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan, but has been based in Berlin for a number of years. Landing on labels like Hyperdub, Honest Jon’s and Latency, Halo has released a body of work ranging in style, yet cohered by production and compositional tendencies that sound distinctly her own. Her studio work tends to be a multi-layered mix of the electronic and the acoustic, the organic and the synthetic. As a DJ, meanwhile, she lays down more floor-focussed mixes of techno, bass and worldly drum rhythms, and her live sets are similarly visceral and direct.

Halo’s DJ-kicks packs a lot in to just 60 minutes. It kicks off with the first of two of her own exclusives, ‘Public Art’, a tactile piano loop that sets the melodic tone of the mix in focus. Crunchy drums soon take over and begin what is a blistering ride through electro, trippy minimalism and textures that range from icy and dubby to steel plated and sharp from the likes of Red Axes, Parris and an exclusive from Rrose.

Another exclusive, rough and ready techno cut from Machinewoman follows, before the mid section twists and turns on surging drum patterns, frantic industrial textures and spaced out gqom sounds from the likes of Griffit Vigo, Dario Zenker and Final Cut. This is a mix forever on the move: one minute its tightly coiled and kinetic, the next it’s loose and joyful before switching into more cerebral and insular passages that keep you intrigued. Fusing together so many disparate sounds and textures is no mean feat, but like everything Halo does, here they all add up to something as thrilling and edgy as it is unpredictable and compelling.
