DJ Vadim enters the 25th Anniversary slot and his history with the show dates back to 1996 when he was a guest on Solid Steel at Kiss FM. He has appeared many times since and with this mix he goes way back. In his own words;
"THIS is a little bit different in that i don't play 50's music all the time but i wanted to connect a few dots. Ninja is one of those labels that has inadvertently inspired and created so many musical fusions, which in turn have resulted in sub genres and new genres... and in that way I wanted to show how musical pioneers like Ray Charles laid the path combing elements never mixed before to create a musical revolution, and how that has in a small way evolved to where we are today. And i thought, as it's Solid Steel's 25th anniversary, it makes perfect sense!"
DK finishes up the show with Quantic and his take on the Lauren Hill classic 'That Thing', plus more latin and Brazilians bombs from Jayme Marques, Som Tres and Tempo 70 , ending with the sublime Christian Prommer version of 'Strings of Life'

Solid Steel (15th November) DK gets the show started with new music from Wiley, Special Request, Run The Jewels and Illum Sphere, plus original dub from The Revolutionaries and into the Loefah remix of 'i' for Skream from 2006. Then it's a switch into a superb new Stubborn Heart remix for Scrimshire, the lush deep house of North Lakes and into Carl Craig's classic rework of Cesaria Evora, before ending with a track from our first guest Pal Joey. 

The New York deep house pioneer has a 23 track anthology out now on BBE and fitting for our 25th Anniversary, we have an exclusive Pal Joey mix from 1987. We don't have a track list, but you'll hear music from Ralphi Rosario, Robert Owens and Class Action amongst others from that period.

"UK Allstars (Congo Natty meetys Benny Page - Radio Edit)" featuring Tenor Fly, Top Cat, General Levy, Tippa Irie, Sweetie Irie and Daddy Freddy, taken from the album "Jungle Revolution", to be released on Big Dada Recordings, 1 July 2013. 

Congo Natty aka Rebel MC has a career dating back to his early hit with Double Trouble, "Street Tuff," but is probably most respected as one of the pioneers of Jungle - perhaps the first uniquely UK-born bass music. 

"Jungle Revolution" features the whole of the extended Congo Natty family and was mixed with Adrian Sherwood. Clearly showing this Rasta's belief that Jungle is a re-boot of roots reggae for a new century, the record is full of blood and fire, the sternum-buzz of sub-bass, rapid fire drum breaks, sweet hooks, righteous anger and professions of religious fervour. It’s the kind of passionate, committed, raw and spiritual, beautiful record that doesn’t come along every day. 

To celebrate this release, we are streaming the track "UK Allstars," which features a who's who of British soundsystem culture. This is the first time ever that this line up have all appeared on one track together and so also marks a historic coming together of a scene which lies at the roots of so much of what we now take for granted in UK music, from dubstep to grime to drum & bass and beyond.
